May Queen crowned as Lorain parade ends with cheer

Mary McDermott, Lorain junior, was crowned May Queen by Student Council President Bob Leese after a glee club act. A 22-unit parade along Main Street wound past the Courier-Tribune to Merrill Hall where Alpha Omega sorority and Delta Phi Sigma fraternity won prizes for their performances.

League Elects New Officers Tomorrow

The women's university league will vote tomorrow to choose new officers. Martha Rufener and Jane Rothermund contest the presidency while the second most votes selects vice president. Lillian Foote and Marjorie Thompson vie for second vice president, and Caroline Clawson and Pauline Johnson compete for secretary.

Seniors To Be Cited Today At Kent State

Kent State University's Scholarship Day will hold a 2 PM assembly in the auditorium to honor about 75 students for outstanding scholarship. Dr. Constantine Alexopoulos will deliver the address with President K. C. Leebrick presiding. Five graduating seniors Ernestine Baumgardner Marvin Koller Gordon Hostettler Mary Suderow and Leland Zahniser will receive special research citations.

Board Grants Doctorate to Floyd W. Reeves at June Commencement

The university board approved awarding Floyd W. Reeves a Doctor of Laws honorary degree and set him as June commencement speaker. The disciplinary committee voted to curb student intoxication at campus functions amid recent suspensions and dismissals for misconduct. Prof. G. Harry Wright will take leave. Albert Couper of Ohio State will replace him. Perry Van Hyning named commerce and physical education critic teacher. S. A. Campen resigns as graduate assistant with a new appointment planned.
