Getting Married at Cleveland Play House Here

The Cleveland Play House brings George Bernard Shaw’s Getting Married to the auditorium Monday May 24 at 8 15 pm. Cast includes Clarence Kavanaugh Carolyn Prescott and Rolf Engelhardt with Frederic McConnell directing the long running Shaw comedy as the company concludes its local engagement before resuming performances in Cleveland.

Turnabout Critic Turned Composer Performs Original Works

Donald D. Warsxan, former Daily Stater music critic, joined a recital featuring two original compositions in 312M last night. Harold Miles attended, having his own work reviewed by Warman in a previous year recital. Associate Prof. Miles will review Warman's pieces for tomorrow's paper.

Concert in Modern Jazz by Kappa Sigma for Stadium Fund

The third semi annual Concert in Modern Jazz will be held Sunday at 8 in the auditorium. Ralph Wilson and his Akron quintet will perform two hours of jazz and novelty numbers with new arrangements. Comedian Tim McCoy will present a soliloquy at intermission. Tickets are 50 cents at the Booster booth or from Kappa Sigma Chi members.

Swanson Named Editor of Chestnut Burr Yearbook

Germane L. Swanson, a junior in liberal arts and Daily Stater columnist, is chosen by the Publications Policy committee to head the 1949 Chestnut Burr yearbook. He is a Gamma Tau Delta member from North Canton and will lead the staff with Stanley Summer as summer Stater business manager and George Heaslip as summer Stater editor.

Ralph W. Dexter president of the Cuyahoga Falls Akron Audubon Club and associate professor of biology will discuss bird banding and studies of cage setups at the upcoming club meeting.

Army ROTC Unit to Undergo Annual Inspection at Campus

The university ROTC unit will be inspected tomorrow by three officers from Fort Meade as part of its first Annual Inspection. A formal drill and inspection will occur at 11 a.m. on the drill field near the baseball diamond with two classes examined starting at 9 a.m. Bleachers will be provided for the public and an alternate schedule is planned in case of rain. Major George Carter and M Sgt Andrew Roney lead the inspected classes. Col. Charles S. Johnson Lt. Col. John H. Lewis Jr Maj. George C. Morton will meet Pres. George A. Bowman before the formal program.

Doctor To Show War Slide Film At Biology Club

Dr. Wineberger Akron brain surgeon will present war slide films and a lecture on brain surgery and WWII casualties to Biology Club members at 462 McG tomorrow at 8 p.m. New officers will be elected and refreshments served after.

Choir Concert at Central High School Auditorium

A cappella choir presents a concert Friday at 8 p.m. in Central high school auditorium. Directed by Caro M. Carapetyan. Tickets via Miss Evelyn Weston, geography office. Donations support Stadium fund and choir, with 50 cents minimum from students and one dollar from adults.

Two More Enter Row Boat Regatta at Brady Lake Park

The Row boat Regatta adds two entries for June 5 at Brady Lake park. The Choir will be represented by Dale C. Spohrer and Gordon Gray. Alpha Gamma Delta sorority has not revealed its oarswomen.

Hall of Fame planned for KSU athletes since 1930

The booster club proposes a KSU Hall of Fame with president Hal Stoneman and vice president Al Lumsden overseeing nominations. An admittance board including boosters, varsity athletes, and Courier-Tribune representatives will review applicants for senior status or national recognition, with nominations open May 19 to May 28.

University Art Dept Exhibits Show Prizes and Honors

Seven members of the university art department display works across three exhibitions. Paul Baus won top honors with a sculpture portrait of E L Novotny’s daughter at the Indiana State show. George Weisz earned an honorable mention for Day on the Beach at Akron Art Institute. Other artists include Thelma Hyland Harold Kitner Robert Morrow and E L Novotny with additional Cleveland show entries including Novotny and Kitner.

SAM Welcomes New Members Tonight at 7

The Society for the Advancement of Management invites new members to a 7 p.m. meeting in 317 McG. Milan Paksic, recent KSU graduate and ex SAM president, will speak on Opportunities for Job Placement and the Present Demand for College Students with Managerial Qualifications. He now works as an executive at White Motor Corporation in Cleveland.

Kent State University Turns 35 Years Old Today

Kent State University marks 35 years since classroom work began on campus and the 1910 act establishing two normal schools led to Kent and Bowling Green. The history traces presidents like John C. McGilvrey, name changes from Normal College to College to University, and growth including a graduate school and business college approved in 1935.

Last Social Dance Tonight in Wills Gym

The final social dance session will be held tonight in Wills Gym with dancing to popular recordings starting at 8. A charge of 25 cents per person applies. All proceeds go to the Memorial Stadium fund drive.
