Political editor Charles Maglione reports a university faculty poll asking if Germany can win the current European war. The poll indicates possibilities of a German victory are very great.
A professor warns Germanys recent maneuvers push the Nazi position toward possible victory and urges immediate U S military preparation as European developments raise fears of war. The discussion notes aggressive German activity and a shifting balance of power in Europe.
The Campus Night program lists events starting 6 15 p m with the May Queen crowning followed by a Men's Glee Club concert on the front lawn. Bertha Whitton directs the Maypole dance at 6 30 and the parade lines up at 6 45 for a 7 pm march along Main Street.
Twenty organizations notify Bob Cook they will place an act in Campus Night celebration. Parade length预计近一英里, Cook says, as organizers aim for a historic display.
The parade will travel along East Main street past the Courier-Tribune office where judges stand and return to end in front of the university atrium. The dance ends at 11 30 with half hour permits extended to the women after the dance.
The University Theatre presents The Pursuit of Happiness May 22 23 and 24 in the university auditorium directed by Prof G Harry Wright. Cast features veterans Don Schilmiller Marvin Kohler and new faces Lenny Opiel Suzanne Martin Joe Calta in key roles with Master of Ceremonies Aaron Kirkland.
A long campus forum on the European war features four student speakers and active audience participation. Chairman Donald Tewes urges addressing U S problems first while others discuss aiding allies and the German threat to South America.
David C. Hinman, university superintendent of buildings and grounds, says organized groups may use the front campus because they can be controlled. Other groups are not permitted after the campus use prohibition announcement.
At a Blue Key regular meeting Hal Serne was chosen president replacing Bob Potts. John Powell was elected vice president and Vincent McDevitt was named secretary treasurer. Election of corresponding and alumni secretary was postponed until initiation of new members.
