May Queen Entries Due On May 15 Campus Night Queen Named

May Queen entries are due May 15 with the winner to reign on Campus Night May 25. A candidate must have at least a 2.0 average and submit her name to Marion Anderson, Cardinal Key chair. Eleven entrants will be chosen for tryouts May 17 in Moulton hall at 7:30 p m, with the queen and two attendants selected from them. Six training school students also try out for crown bearer and flower girl.

Intra-squad Fray Under Lights At Bowers Stadium

The Kent State 1946 football squad will stage an intra-squad game at 8 p.m. tomorrow in Bowers Stadium Roosevelt High School. Drum majorettes and stirring music accompany burly players as proceeds from the benefit game defray uniform expenses.

Russian Language Course Planned for Next Fall

Dr. F. Dewey Amner announces a new beginning Russian class to accompany a USSR understanding program. Bernard Mikofsky, an Army Signal Corps lieutenant, will teach Russian and also handle Spanish and French courses. He brings knowledge of several languages and reading skills in Japanese Chinese Hebrew Arabic and Latin.

Glacier Priest to Speak at University Friday

Rev. Bernard R. Hubbard S J known as The Glacier Priest will address University students in the auditorium at 815 p m Friday. His colored films depict regions he has studied for over two decades and include wartime service as an Alaska chaplain with a naval construction battalion on Attu.

Barbara McDowell announced that student council elections originally set for yesterday will be held Monday. The registrar’s office had not completed the voters’ check list due to extra work. Campaigning may continue this week and posters from last week can be obtained again at the student council office.

Stater Nabs Second In Newspaper Meet

The Kent Stater captured second place in the state’s semi weekly college newspaper division at the OCNA convention held at the University of Toledo last weekend. Editor Tom Gavag an earned third in Editorial Contest for Wanted In expensive Meals. Certificates were given at the OCNA dinner in Toledo on Saturday night with more than 20 Ohio newspapers represented. Stater delegates included Gavagan Norma Knsely John Thomas and Marion Cole. First prize for the semi weekly went to the Miami Student of Miami University.

A meeting to discuss next year’s university activities is planned for 4 p.m. Tuesday May 14 in Room 108 Kent Hall. Don Moore, social committee chairman, says each student faculty committee will be represented to coordinate activities of the entertainment, assembly and social groups.
