Registrar E C Stopher said pre registration may be tried this spring for students returning next fall. Plans depend on office scheduling and university readiness. He notes Kent State's youth makes pre registration difficult but hopes to test programs this year with spring trials and fall fee payments. Summer session registration may begin early with plans for the second session. No date set yet for the first session pre registration.

Theater Formal Date Set For May 10 At Portage

The University daily scored 955 points from the National Collegiate Press association in four divisions news value and sources writing and editing headlines typography and make up department pages and special features. Judges called the Kent Stater a very snappy paper with a good chance at All American with minor changes.

May Queen Petition Deadline and May Day Plans
May Queen petitions must be filed with the dean of women by Monday May 5 at 4 pm. Each petition requires 25 names and an 8 by 10 portrait. Coronation will be on Friday May 16 with judging May 9 in Moulton hall music room. Judges are Carl Gaertner Glenn Shaw and Elmer Novotny.

U S Oil Abundant Says Rubber Chief
Waldo L. Semon, head of the Hydrocarbon Chemical and Rubber Co. of Akron, told Forty Physical Science Club members in McGilvrey Hall that petroleum is the principal source of chemicals for synthetic rubber and that U S oil reserves are far more abundant than commonly believed.

Dean To Organize New Campus Patrol Today

Service Groups To Fete Scholars At Kent Congregational Lunch
Cardinal Key and Blue Key service honoraries will host 150 high school seniors for a noon luncheon at Kent Congregational church on Saturday May 3. Draft Exemption Blanks Ready In Dean's Office
Selective service officials sent report sheets to Dean Raymond E. Manchester to document students scholastic standings and reasons for continued enrollment at the University. He called the blanks the biggest opportunity undergraduates have received about the draft and said they would be available in his office. NTFC Show Opens Tonight With 40 Extra Seats

Janitors To Attend Short Course At Kent State
Kent State University maintenance staff will attend a five day short course in school maintenance from June 23 to 27. The program moved from East Cleveland to Kent State due to the campus facilities, said Larry Woodell, director of maintenance.
