Booster club membership drive closes with 1 048 charter members. Delta Phi Sigma and Kappa Sigma Chi tie for first in the fraternity race and receive plaques. Beta Gamma wins in the sorority segment.
Booster club members must show membership cards before 7 p m to enter the BC section for the Western Reserve basketball game tomorrow. If seats remain, the section opens to all spectators at 7 p m. Eleven of 13 campus Greek organizations earned super booster status with full membership.
Jean Dickenson, noted radio singer, will perform a Monday recital at 8 15 p m in the auditorium. The program includes English and American songs with a Foster piece, De Falla Jota, and Rossini La Danza. Accompanist is Arpad Sandor.
Deadline today for letters to 50 university organizations seeking Penny Carnival participation. Entries to be left in committee chairman Charles Dragga's mailbox. Carnival time is 7 30 to 11 p m on Friday February 14, sponsored by Cardinal Key and Blue Key.
Dr H H Chang, speaking extemporaneously at a student faculty assembly, warns that U S policy on China risks civil war and foreign intervention. He praises General Marshall while urging stronger diplomatic action to prevent a Communist takeover and continued Kuomintang liberalization.
Tickets for Top Hop went on sale at Merrill hall booster booth with sales daily 10 am to noon. Admission is 2 dollars per couple plus one student activity card. Bob Chester performs from 9 pm to 1 am as semi formal dance features chaperones and intermission presentation by Miss Kent State. Evelyn Long and Marcye Huston Armington are Blue Star and Blue and Gold party candidates.
Debaters from Kent State University will host a Saturday discussion with Akron University, Notre Dame of Cleveland, Baldwin Wallace, and Hiram colleges. The session, chaired by Prof. James Holm, associate professor of speech, will be conducted as an experimental format.
Tomorrow is the final day for former GIs to renew lapsed government life or health coverage without medical exams. Veterans can complete the renewal at the Veterans Administration office above Getz Hardware in Kent.

Attendance rose by 20 to 338 during the four week test period but failed to meet the 400 average needed for continuation. The initial attempt drew 318 students, indicating the program did not reach required participation.
Dr. Paul Engle head of Iowa University creative writing will speak at a student assembly on Tuesday Feb 4 at 2 pm on Poetry and Modern Life. Dean John Reed Spicer will introduce him. Engle will also speak at a luncheon at the Robin Hood on Feb 4 at 12 10 pm.
Men's Union voted to let its governing board choose the Manchester cup winner for the yearly versatile male award, abandoning the previous point system due to student maturity and reluctance to engage in activities. The cup has a history dating to 1931 and was previously decided by points.
Johnny Lemon and his eight piece orchestra have been chosen to perform for the Chestnut Burr dance on February 15. Alvin Geitgey Burr editor will announce comedian Bob Hope as queen during intermission. Admission is one dollar per couple.
Editor Alvin Geitgey calls on all seniors to provide biographical material for the Chestnut Burr yearbook. Respondents must include correct names, degree expected, offices held and activities. Materials must be in by February 5 or they will not be used.
The Cleveland Browns football movies presented by the Men's Union drew a packed house at the first general assembly since prewar days. MU president Roy Apple said the event was warmly received.
