The Dowding brothers prove a boast by using one set of books for four years. Dick is the senior, Tasman the junior, David the sophomore, and Ben from the class of 1943. Three attend the same college, and several books have passed through four Dowding hands with each term.
The university infirmary reports eight students sent home this week due to illness, with only one admitted to hospital. The list includes Jean Commerford, Ashtabula. Helen Harris, Cuyahoga Falls. Karl Kreuter, Canton. Frederick Holzhauser, Cleveland. Miriam Scott, Twinsburg. Margery Balder, Bedford. Kiva Parsons and Aletta Dobbins of Akron. Monday marked the return of Mark Treat, junior class president.
Kent State University reports 400 students enrolled in an aeronautics program. The fourth flight group at Mid City airport led by Arthur Stanley has soloed Donald Dietz, with Clayton Heinlen and Robert Matthews also flying solo. Akron group has yet to record solos. A custom gifts instructors after a student solos. Four female students push to be the first woman to solo.
Ashland College Eagles led by Bob Sprague with 24 points defeated Kent State 53 36 on the Ashland court, earning a fourth straight win and moving ahead in the Ohio Conference race. Kent State, paced by Wayne Griffith, slipped to four straight losses.
The Kent Stater urges the administration to renew its stand against cheating with a formal discipline process. A campus committee could handle cases, with student appeals, and professors report offenders to ensure penalties and fair enforcement.
Graduate students met with Dean John L. Blair of the college of education on Tuesday night to discuss thesis problems. They were advised on how to get thesis topics approved and informed about graduate comprehensive examinations.
Educators of national and international prominence will conduct classes during summer sessions announced today by Prof. Fren Musselman dean of the university's summer session. The two sessions run June 17 to July 26 and July 29 to August 30 with Dr. William Bagley and Dr. James F. Hosic among chief attractions and Dr. Joseph Roucek listed among featured speakers.
