Penny Drive Continues For Staters In Service
Dean of Men Raymond Manchester announced the Penny Drive to send Staters to former KSU students in service will continue indefinitely. He said the effort will map how many former students remain in service to revise the mailing list. He noted 3500 servicemen received a Stater at the peak and that last month’s cost was $133.

Novotny Appointed Acting Head of School of Art
Professor E. Ladislaw Novotny has been named acting head of the school of art to temporarily replace Miss Nina Humphrey as she takes a leave. A longtime faculty member since 1935, he studied in the United States and abroad including London Paris Zagreb Yale and Western Reserve. He earned a master’s from Kent State and has had paintings shown in Cleveland New York Pittsburgh and other centers.

Briggs Receives War Dept Pin for Atom Bomb Work
Dick Briggs of the Goodrich laboratory in McGilvrey hall at Princeton University has earned the War Department pin for a year on atomic bomb work. He helped lead a team from across the country to develop the diffusion method to separate uranium 235 isotopes, now in production at Oak Ridge Tennessee, and Briggs is back at his post.

Library Fine System Starts At University Library
