Frank Buck the famed adventurer will address University of Kansas State students in the auditorium Monday at 2 p.m. He will show motion pictures and lecture, discussing exotic and spotlighted world places. Buck reports long career in animal capture and exploration with dozens of books to his name.
University announces 1945 Pork Barrel plans led by Women's League and Men's Union with March 9 event date. February 20 deadline to file entries, rehearsals February 22 23 26 28 and March 1 2 7 pm to 10 pm in University auditorium. Eliminations March 5 6 with dormitory prizes added this year.
Sigma Tau Gamma reactivates on campus with three new members Don Moore Bud Gerber and Lou Zaremba granted active status by the policies committee Don Moore named president Bud Gerber vice president and Lou Zaremba secretary treasurer at a meeting hosted by E C Stopher registrar and advisor The inactive period began in June 1943 and no fraternity activity existed since then A smoker for upperclassmen is scheduled for January 9 at Dr A O DeWeese residence with Stopher and several doctors in attendance Bids to upperclassmen will be issued February 1 to formalize the renewed activity
Coach Bil Satterlee announced that new registrants for varsity basketball should report to the gym today or tomorrow for tryouts.
Suzanne Schwartz director of No Time For Classes invites the entire staff to a 4 p.m. meeting in room 119 Kent hall to assign makeup stage crew and properties roles. Rehearsals begin Monday 7 to 10 30 p.m. in the same room.
Registrar E C Stopher announced winter enrollment reached 711, down from 880 in fall. He cited 42 cadet nurses last quarter vs 10 this quarter and noted expected final figures around 800. Rehabilitation students and University G I s rising. late fee waived due to snow.
Dr Grace Sherrer associate professor of English was granted a leave of absence by President George A Bowman. Due to ill health she has gone to Florida for a rest.
Ardath Amond a 19 year old university student and junior in education cancels her role as student preacher at Magnolia Methodist Church Cuya hoga Falls. She will resign as minister though she keeps leading the young people Sunday school through June. Amond joined the university in 1943 and plans to graduate in 1946 ending ministry ambitions.
Funeral services for William Mullen 77 father of Mrs. T K Wilt university receptionist and telephone operator were held December 22 in Kent. Mr Mullen died after a nine month illness.
