Six women and three men vie for Most Popular as voting opens at Wills gym from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Voters split by last name A to L and M to Z. Candidates include Betty Hoy, Berniece Looney, Barbara McDowell, Jeri Petzel, Phoebe Steiner, Patricia Wahl, James Fletcher, Hank Johnston, Robert Reash, and others with varied campus roles and achievements.
The senior councilman race features Hank Ford in Blue and Gold and Agnes Sawyer in Blue Star as co favorites. Ford, a college of education senior, leads Delta Phi Sigma and serves on the allocations committee. Sawyer, another education senior, chairs Pi Kappa Sigma and holds Cardinal Key Newman Club WAA and Who's Who memberships.
About 75 entrants in the university model contest are trimmed to six for tonight's event in the auditorium. Director Michael J. Radock says the judges will have a headache narrowing the field, while the winner and her attendants pose for roughly 500 press photographers during the short course in March 1922.
Herbert Myers, a Kansas State University graduate, now with the Byrd expedition in Little America, is described in a letter to James N. Holm. Myers taught speech at Kent during college, joined Pi Kappa Delta, and won the Grand Eastern Champion title in 1942 with Robert Beckwith.
Students interested in trying out for the forthcoming University theater production should prepare by obtaining the play books available in the Speech office 314K.
Students in Professor Montgomery's psychology of speech and hearing class conduct everyday life tests by walking through university halls with cotton in their ears to study effects on personality. Another project models the Mrs Hush contest by listening to voice recordings and describing speaker personality.
Three Kent State University debaters Bill Davis Normano Bertellotti and Warren Lashley plan to discuss The Solution To Our Labor Problems at the Garrettsville Rotary Club meeting Monday evening.
In a joint Cardinal Key and Blue Key meeting members decided to use Penny Carnival profits to buy reference material for student use. The books will be placed on reserve in the library.
