John Tilton of Pan Campus edged Tom Gavagan 31 to 24 for the senior student council position. Coalition's Wayne Higley captured the freshman seat with 58 votes, beating Jaret Grant and Marcia Traxler. Only a third of seniors and one eighth of freshmen voted, with two invalid ballots.

Two Cub training planes at Stow Field were torn from moorings by 68 mph winds yesterday and likely beyond repair. Instructor Andrew Paton said the damaged aircraft were anchored due to hangar shortages and will be replaced when weather allows, while two other planes remain usable.

Kent will host 19 colleges and universities with 187 students and advisers for Ohio's biggest inter collegiate debate tournament. James N. Holm directs the forensics effort. Kent teams include affirmative David Ryan Oliver Ocas ek Jane Filler Laverne Santo and negative Matthew Bradley Ray Parr Jeanne Cook Ardatr Franck. Five states represented with fourteen Ohio colleges five Pennsylvania colleges and one Indiana college. The topic foreseen by the national speech association asks if the US foreign policy should pursue free trade among nations. Each team has ten minutes for constructive speeches and five minutes for rebuttals.
