Krupa to Be Made Honorary Kappa Sigma Chi

Gene Krupa will be made an honorary member of Kappa Sigma Chi Fraternity when he appears at the university Monday February 14 for two concerts sponsored by the pledge chapter. Sixteen pledges become actives a day earlier. The Jazz Trio with Charles Kennedy Buddy Banelli and Krupa will perform at 4 p.m. and 5 30 p.m. Ray McKinley was the first nationally known bandleader named honorary Kappa Sig.

Boosters Sponsor Varsity Ball

The Booster club hosts a Varsity Ball honoring university athletes on March 11 at East Market Gardens with Ray Robinson and his orchestra. Tickets are $1 for members and $1.50 for non members, sale starts February 21. Chaperones listed.

Short Story Deadline Set for Tomorrow at 4 P.M.

Students are reminded that short story entries will be accepted until 4 p.m. tomorrow. The story editor, Sylvester Nemes, noted few manuscripts have been submitted for next week. A weekly prize of 5 dollars goes to the winner. the English department conducts judging.

Stadium Fund Totals Rise With Final Drive Tally

The stadium drive collections show the pots at 8.73 and janitors adding 5.30 in smoking fines. The running total to date stands at 198.15 with funds still coming in.

The University and Associated Press news will be broadcast five times daily in the atrium starting Monday, with Clem Scerback as chief newscaster giving hourly updates. The Third Memorial Stadium Drive committee initiates the series, recorded on wire then played back to students via public address system.

How to Make Lantern Slides Film Shown at Campus

Movie For All presents How to Make Lantern Slides in the schoolroom. The film shows construction and use of lantern slides and will be shown Monday February 14 at 4 p.m. in room 201K. All university students are invited.

E Barracks Wins Trophy at University Ceremony

Dean of Men Ray mond Manchester presented the Manchester scholarship trophy to Lloyd Miller of Barrack E, Terrace Lodge, for the highest quarterly point average of 2.44. The prize boosts Terrace Lodge averages as the Lodge cafeteria remains open for study from 8 to 12 p.m.

Penny Carnival to Benefit WSSF and Stadium Drive

Blue Key and Cardinal Key voted on Penny Carnival proceeds with three quarters donated to the university stadium drive and the remainder to World Student Service Fund. Presidents Ann Irons and Donald Warman cited stadium needs and WSSF relief urgency. Students were asked to submit Penny Carnival chairmen names and enter blanks distributed to organization presidents.

Dean's Saturday Letter Honored at University Memorial

A memorial prayer by Dean Raymond Manchester honoring university men and women who died in World War II was inscribed and framed. The verses were hand lettered by Sarah E. Dunning Assistant Professor of English. The framed tribute will be placed in the Administration building lobby above the Memorial book in the president's office.
