An art department exhibit in Kent Hall second floor corridor features miniature stage sets panels photos and enlargements. Titled World of Elusion the exhibit prepared by the New York Museum of Modern Art closes February 28 and tours nationally after the local showing.
Sixteen university co eds will compete in an ROTC beauty contest Thursday at 8 p m in the auditorium. The winner will be named honor ary Cadet Colonel for the Military Ball on Feb 21. Finalists include members of Alpha Xi Delta Alpha Phi Chi Omega Delta Gamma Gamma Phi Beta and independents.
The University theater to present The Trysting Place by Booth Tarkington and Hello Out There by William Saroyan in March. Gene Mekler directs Tarkington piece and Ed Shelton directs Hello Out There. Open tryouts for all students will be held simultaneously in 315K and the Radio Workshop at 4 p.m. tomorrow and Thursday.
Alpha Epsilon Phi Beta Phi and Alpha Phi Beta are the fraternities represented while Gamma Phi Beta and Alpha Xi Delta are the sororities. The Friars club is the only non Greek group reporting full membership. Ed Lavery Jr addressed the advisory committee on a proposed boxing show with his promoter father arranging last year. April 6 is a tentative date.
Limited off campus rooms now available to student commuters under housing chief Mrs. Rema A Fair. Vacancies opened after withdrawals will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Commuters should contact the Office of the Student Resident Advisor immediately.
The Stater sales push raised $10.75 on Friday, bringing the Stadium drive total to $105.35. Janitors' collection climbed to $69.32 after Friday and the prior day, lifting the grand total for both drives to $165.67.
A student music recital will be presented at 7 p m in 312M with public access. Featured vocalists include George Hollingsworth Roland Gamble Donna Jean Fullerton Mary Ann Maske Carolyn Hollingsworth and Marjorie Barnett. Piano is by Jean Morse and Joan Fiocca. All students study under Miss Eleanor Pudil with Harold E Miles and Caro M Carapetyan as associate professors.
Social dancing will occur tomorrow night in Moulton hall music room starting at 8 15. Admission is twenty five cents and requires activity cards. Records will be used for music.
Gamma's win the fraternity division with Ole Dan Cupid's Stupid. Alpha Phi claims the sorority prize Working Our Way Through College. Engleman hall dorms perform Best Ads of the Year and a crooked coach spoof by the Industrial Arts club closes the show. Masters and alumni contribute between acts.
Dr. Loren S. Hadley announces spring quarter courses not offered. Students with these courses should consult advisors for substitutes. Biology 260 289. Martha Graham with an orchestra and a 20 person company presents a modern dance program described as a psychological ballet. The show is sponsored by the HPE department and Women’s Athletic Association and features Miss Hush. Graham launches her first road tour after Broadway leaving for Bowling Green Ohio Wesleyan and Miami universities following the local engagement. Her innovative stage techniques in musical comedy have gained national fame and influenced productions like Oklahoma.
Emil M Kernasovich proposed Cadet Call for the ROTC weekly news bulletin and won a prize ticket to the Military ball to be held February 21 at the Akron armory. Lt Col Thomas F Wall will award the prize Thursday night in the auditorium during the corps beauty contest to choose the Cadet Colonel.
