KSU announces a tree to be placed in the atrium with student council purchasing it Thursday. Decorations are invited for Friday at 7 p.m. Miss Elfreda Littlejohn will lead a Christmas music program Wednesday December 18. The music department will sponsor carol singing next week.
The quarterly Student Government meeting will be held in the auditorium Wednesday at 3 p.m. with a short session followed by an open discussion on allocations. The Entertainment Committee refused funds for outside Messiah talent. election committee notes two candidates failed to file enough signatures. Several new candidates were released for freshman and various class offices.
Independent Students Association reports no signed petitions submitted for the December 16 student council class officer and Men's Union elections. Bill Thrasher, ISA president, says independents may run as write-ins or on their own, leaving the association without an official slate.
Prof. Merle Wagoner in Merrill Hall room 303 seeks student interest in daily Cleveland to Kent bus service. He will relay data to Ohio Greyhound Lines on feasibility of operating a regular campus route.
The Industrial Arts club will meet in front of the Industrial Arts office at 12 45 p m Thursday December 12 for a group picture to be taken for Burr.
Miss Nancy Heiks was crowned the 1947 Pigskin Prom queen at the university gymnasium on Saturday. She was escorted to her throne during intermission by varsity halfback Bob Beachy, with the football team selecting the queen.
Four New York soloists Eleanor Brownell Gertrude Berggren Alfred Hopkins and John Grant join a 200 voice student faculty alumni townspeople choir for Kent's ninth annual Messiah This concert at 8 30 p m Sunday December 15 features Dr Fred H Denker as director The university orchestra Kenneth Byler Harold Miles Roberta Sollberger accompany and extra rehearsals are set for Tuesday Thursday Friday 7 30 p m and Saturday 2 p m in the auditorium.
WAKR Akron will dramatize an original script Petit Jackie by Kenneth Goldstein Saturday at 11 30 a m The cast includes Edith Tedford Phil Hartman Duane Budner Joe McNaughton and Frank Fedorka Tryouts for the program December 21 follow a workshop meeting at 7 30 in Studio A.
Steve Homick a Windham Business Administration senior and bus passenger used a fire extinguisher from the bus to stop flames engulfing a car in front of the Windham post office Friday afternoon. The fire allegedly started from an overheated motor while two unidentified female occupants failed to extinguish it.
Berea newcomer Helene Naber, a university freshman, was added to the cheerleading staff today by head cheerleader Marcia Traxler. The new yell leader is a transfer student from Baldwin Wallace College.
Arden L. Allyn, mimeograph committee chairman, says only essential material will be mimeographed. Special needs for classroom procedures get priority. Departmental programs and outside activities receive attention only if paper is available.
More than 400 names signed a petition requesting Sunday opening from 1 to 5 p.m. John B Nicholson Jr librarian will arrange to keep Sunday hours next quarter. The request aims to help students who work Saturdays complete weekend assignments.

Windham student union to hold a 7 30 p m election meeting at the Maple Grove community building. Officers will be elected and the union lecture series program will be discussed. KSU Hiram students urged to boost the union by inviting a neighbor.
