Noted Lecturer Discusses How To Win War and Peace
Sherwood Eddy lectured to about 400 people at 317 McGilvrey last night on winning the war and building peace. He argued the home front shares the fight, urged a new spirit, and outlined four cornerstones for lasting peace: righteousness justice brotherhood and universal peace. He planned talks on India in the morning and Russia in the afternoon.

Reserve Enlistment Closed December 5
In compliance with President Roosevelt's proclamation enlistments in university reserves are closed as of December 5. Applications for naval and marine reserves are still being accepted. Adrian Van Wyen, armed forces adviser, announced that only those who applied in writing before December 5 may enlist, with finish by December 15. Navy and Marines orders pending do not affect current admissions.

First Raid Drill Held Here Yesterday
The 15 minute air raid practice conducted yesterday at 12 25 p m was called successful by Lawrence Wooddell superintendent of maintenance. On hearing the raid signal 21 blasts directed everyone to second floor halls and they remained there until the all clear. A two minute silence marked the first anniversary of America’s entry into the war.

Frances Farson Leads Miss Penny Drive Vote
Frances Farson tops the first day ballot in the Miss Penny Drive race. The freshman in the college of education led with the most votes, with ballots available today tomorrow and Thursday at the atrium table for each penny donated. Election closes at 5 p m Thursday.

The University announces a winter quarter course on the education program and current events of the U S S R open to all students.
