Summer Program Ends With Hotel Universe at University

The university entertainment committee presents Hotel Universe by the Town Hall players of Kent and Trumbull New Theater at the university auditorium Friday night August 26 at 8 30 p m. Warren actors directed by Mrs Thorn Pendelton perform a two hour continuous play set in a southern France terrace near Toulon featuring a cast of nine characters.

Final Day for Student Class Sign In and Pre-Registration

Tomorrow marks the last day for students to sign into class. White cards for final pre-registration will be available Monday August 29 through September 1. Those who miss registration by September 1 must wait until the fall term starts.

Biography of Marvin Kent on Ohio Story

The Ohio Story on Aug 24 presents the life of Marvin Kent, a Franklin Mills native who built mills and a railroad to link Ohio from the Mississippi to the Atlantic. Sponsored by Ohio Bell, the 15 minute program from WTAM Cleveland airs on 11 stations at 6 30 p m each Monday Wednesday and Friday. Kent’s efforts culminated March 7, 1863 when Franklin Mills was renamed Kent Ohio in his honor.

Senior announcements and dues update from booster booth

Senior announcements and name ecards available in booster booth today and Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. George Hoy reports 105 of 500 seniors have paid class dues. Hoy says you can’t get a worthwhile gift for $105 and dues continue to be collected.

Senior Class Dance Cancelled Amid University Rules

The senior class dance set for Monday August 29 is canceled due to a conflict with university regulations. The event, intended for seniors, could not proceed under the rules and requires no rescheduling at this time.

Toledo Blade Editor Grove Patterson Set as Commencement Speaker

Grove Patterson editor in chief of the Toledo Blade will deliver the address at the university's 36th annual summer commencement on Friday September 2 at 10 am in Wills Gym. About 440 students will be awarded degrees by President George A Bowman and Registrar Charles E Atkinson.

Freshmen Must Take English Placement Test

All freshmen must take the English placement test this week. The tests are Wednesday August 24 at 1 p.m. and Thursday August 25 at 9 a.m. in the University School auditorium. Freshmen may not register for English before completing the test.

Combined commencement services set for Friday at Wills gym

Commencement Baccalaureate and commencement services scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday September 2 in Wills gym with no reserved seats. Graduating seniors should line up south of McGilvrey hall at 9:30 a.m. or at 9:15 a.m. in Merrill hall if it rains. Required practice for seniors on campus will be at 10 a.m. Thursday September 1 in the auditorium.

A Kent State campus rumor about a million jobs fades as Norman Shepherd of the Ohio State Employment Office says private employment will rise and government demand grows. He cites needed roles in accounting statistics stenography and sciences, with civil service offering job security and benefits.
