Summer Jobs To Be Convocation Topic

University women will discuss summer employment at a women's assembly sponsored by Women’s League today at 1 p m in the University auditorium. Guest speakers are Mrs James Browley of the United States Employment bureau of Akron and Mrs George Veon of the Kent bureau. Jane McDowell, chairwoman, urges notifying professors of class conflicts before the event. A tea for the speakers follows in the WAA room. no class exemptions.

Ackermann and Novotny to Choose Campus Queen

Announcement of the campus royalty selection is kept secret until the May 8 crowning. Priscilla Jeffs Jean Kirkpatrick Vi Farnsworth Meg Cook Marge Dornbusch Marge Edixon Pat Graham Rose Christ Mary Jane Pepper Virginia Dodd are among 24 University women who filed queen petitions. Aviation students Greek groups and others will meet at the Power Plant at 6 45 p m for the event.

Foreign Missions Secretary Sets Convocation Talk and Meetings

Dr Seabury a Smith College graduate and noted Christian speaker will meet YM YWCA at 6 pm in 219 Kent Hall. A convocation occurs tomorrow at 1 pm in 317 McGilvrey Hall with attendance noted. Negro Musicians to Play for Hop in Wills Gym

Under the health and physical education department and the second chance program for university and aviation students the event will be held Saturday evening in Wills gymnasium. Evangeline Jaffars, chairman, announced. A 10 piece Negro orchestra from the Ravenna officers club will be furnished by the air force men. Sanctioned by the Women’s War Activity council members meet with the HPE committee.

Council Denies Rumor On Army Etiquette On Campus

In a lengthy session last night the student council denied a circulating report that aviation students on campus had caused concern over behavior. Peg Curry stated the rumor misrepresented actions by the council and Capt. Ackermann received no inquiry. A letter to The Kent Stater to clarify the council’s position was approved, with a Curry-led committee to draft it.

Open Letter from Student Council Denying Rumor

The university student council states it had no part in reported criticisms of aviation students. After investigation, the council finds no grounds for the rumors and regrets the misunderstanding and misrepresentation of the student body’s attitude.

Honoraries To Hold Second PD Carnival

Blue and Cardinal Key honoraries sponsor the second annual penny carnival with Phi Sigma Xi on May 13 in Wills gym. Jean Zeiser and Art Wilson co chair the committee plus Durivage and Harris in booths and Collins on refreshments. All sororities and fraternities are invited to sponsor booths. a small admission fee will be charged and profits go to the Penny Drive.

Faculty Set to Debate Student Constitution at Meeting

The faculty plans a 3 p.m. meeting Thursday in room 317 McGilvary Hall to discuss the proposed student constitution. If the faculty approves it, the document goes to the board of trustees and then to the student body, per Peg Curry, council president.

Senior Women Learn Army Map Making June Training

Twenty senior women completed a 60 hour non credit map making course led by Miss Edna Eisen associate professor of geography. They will train under civil service pay in map intelligence compilation or coverage and graduate with diverse majors from three colleges. Major Morawitz indicated no definite plan to sponsor the course next year until mid summer.
