A five year old girl named Carol Welsh died Sunday when a fire destroyed her parents Dan and Mrs Welsh home in Gordon Wisconsin. The child suffocated as flames gutted the interior while eight other children and the parents escaped. Firemen suspect a gas stove explosion in the kitchen started the fire.

Four Die in Arkansas Cookstove Explosion

Police say a 21 year old Royal Oak man Clifford Peder sen and an accomplice co owned an old truck found at the scene. The victim Eugene Schaaf a 40 year old Hudson Motor Car Co. worker from Warren township was shot dead and his wife Beulah Schaaf was raped in a secluded field near Nine Mile Road. Authorities say the couple were attacked after a man boarded their car and ordered Schaaf to exit.

Four people died and four were pulled from the Allegheny River spillway after a 25 foot cabin cruiser went over an 11 foot dam 15 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. Charles Evenson, 6, died in the Eau Claire river at Stanley while showing how to swim. August Golomieski, 65, drowned in the Fox river at Waukesha while going fishing. Joseph Crotteau, 41, of Duluth died from burns from a high tension wire near Brule.
