Michael Harcharik a 69 year old janitor was found unconscious on a Naplace sidewalk with 2730 dollars strapped to his ankle. He died ten hours later in an Ottawa hospital from exposure. A native of Austria he had been employed as a janitor and was divorced. Authorities sought to learn why he carried such a large sum.
Mrs. Clara Nettage age 54 of Cable Wisconsin died from injuries after a December 20 collision near Cambridge. She and her husband Reinhart Nettage ran a summer resort near Cable.

Joseph A. Pitts 81 longtime local business leader and civic figure died at his home 4908 8th Ave Christmas night after a long illness. Born January 23 1867 in Kenosha he married Catherine Schend in 1916 at St George's church. He helped found several ventures including Pitts Paint stores and Pitts Block Bank later premiering the Commercial Exchange bank and heading Hotel Dayton administration. Survived by widow Catherine two nephews and several nieces. predeceased by five sisters and four brothers.
The Kenosha Vocational School Adult Evening School announces a January 3 start for the second term. Existing classes continue on same nights. new enrollments accepted at the first session. A $2 deposit is charged for most courses, refundable after 75 percent attendance.
All 54 teachers at Matsue High School were dismissed after the education board blamed them for two fires that damaged school buildings. The move marks a drastic action amid the blaze investigations in Matsue, Japan.

A 69 year old man and his 67 year old wife were killed Christmas Day when their car collided with a North Shore train at Berryville crossing County Trunk A. The couple Frank Wilkiel and Barbara Wilkiel of Kenosha died instantly as the train dragged the car 500 feet and veered into a ditch. The engineer said the northbound train traveled about 80 mph after leaving Kenosha. Coroner James A. Crossin identified the victims and noted the couple had married December 11, 1948.
Seven grandchildren and one great grandchild survive the Dumesic family in Kenosha including Joseph Edward William and Leo Dumesic and Anthony Dumesic of Milwaukee along with Mrs William Marescalco of Kenosha and Mrs Mary Jerovenko of Milwaukee. Wilkiel born in Lithuania March 25 1879 emigrated to Kenosha worked in tavern business before joining the Peter Pirsch company. A daughter Mrs Fred Block and a brother Vincent of Beaver Dam also survive.
