The supreme court refused to block the 11 nation tribunal that condemned former Premier Tojo and six other Japanese warlords to death. By a 6 1 vote the justices said they had no authority over the tribunal and rejected requests to hear appeals, rule the tribunal illegal, or grant immediate release.

An intruder broke into Dr. Nelson A. Young’s Los Angeles office at night and removed a cast from an arm, rebandaged it, and left a $20 bill. The doctor said nothing else was taken and he is five dollars ahead because his fee for the service is fifteen dollars.

Four Wausau Prisoners Escape Jail Breakout

Four men escaped Marathon county jail last night and were free today. Undersheriff Carl Mueller said two of the escapees were slated for state prison at Waupun after sentencing on Saturday and two others were awaiting arraignment on car theft charges. Identified were Gilbert Klatt 29 Louis Johnson 25 Clarence Wegner 21 all of Wausau and Robert Peck 28 of Rochester Minnesota.

Fire destroys second story dental lab in Sunday blaze

An early morning fire Sunday gutted the second floor dental laboratory of Drs Anthony and Louis De Furio at 2203 52nd Street. Estimated losses total 71 000 with 21 000 to building and contents and 10 000 for equipment and 10 000 for building. Firefighters fought the blaze over two hours and the cause was believed to be defective wiring. No damage to the adjoining apartment or Haertlein Drug Store beyond smoke, and a 16 year old resident Leonard Saladis alerted the occupants.

A 19.6 inch storm ended in New York City after a 20 hour event starting yesterday morning. City workers cleared streets while trains and flights faced disruptions and six deaths were attributed to exertion.
