Thousands attend the Milwaukee exposition at State Fair Park West Allis for Governor’s Day. About 12,000 visitors view a 6.5 million dollar show featuring agriculture industry science and the arts. Racine Day programs include band race drama and fairs activities with Youth Exhibit Hall judging and animal shows.
A truck carrying a 16 panel University of Wisconsin exhibit to the Milwaukee centennial caught fire and veered into a ditch three miles east of Lake Mills on U S Highway 30. Two drivers escaped unharmed and officials plan rapid duplication at Madison. Glen Eye oversees the effort with limited hope for a perfect repeat.
The body of Pvt. Walter Trojak 20 infantryman killed in action in Italy will arrive in Kenosha Monday from the Chicago Graves Distribution Center. Son of Mr and Mrs Louis Trojak of Phillips Wisconsin he was born January 10 1924 and attended Phillips High School. He enlisted March 1943 and trained in Alabama before shipping overseas. He participated in Africa campaigns and had four months in action in July. Surviving are his parents two brothers Edward of Phillips and Jerry of Kenosha and two sisters Mrs Emil Robillard Kenosha and Mrs John Jerrell Nora Springs Iowa.
Brown County Highway Commissioner Francis Brunette and State Highway Division Maintenance Engineer Joseph Borchers personally repaired a gravel shoulder on Highway 141 southeast of Green Bay. The action followed a strike by county highway workers that began after wage negotiations broke down.

Howard Le dum, 28, a laborer, was booked on suspicion of robbery after attempting to take $38 from a bank cage in a downtown Los Angeles California Bank branch. He told police he believed the money belonged to anyone and all you had to do was reach in and take it.
