Witness Perlo Avoids Answers At Spy Quiz
Parades may come and parades may go but Kenosha may not see another Centennial and VFW Roundup like this for a century. An estimated 40 000 to 50 000 people watched a two hour spectacle celebrating Wisconsin and Kenosha over 100 years. Parking was full as residents from southeastern Wisconsin joined Kenoshans. Over 1 000 musicians participated and many high caliber floats appeared. Top exhibits have not yet been released by the parade committee.

A severe summer storm battered the English Channel coast causing eight drownings and heavy damage. Off Perros-Guirec in Normandy a fishing boat carrying 13 tourists sank. five survivors and five bodies were recovered with three missing. Yachts foundered along the coast. ships and coast guard crews aided or limped away. Flooding swamped Brooklands Estate, wrecking 450 bungalows and ripping down over 1,000 telephone lines. Over 1,000 vacationers were rescued by rowboats and amphibious craft as seas rose to 60 feet and the coast suffered fruit losses and widespread damage.

Soldier's Body Back from Italy
The remains of Pvt. Raymond L. Grohs of Pleasant Prairie will arrive from the Chicago Graves Distribution Center. Killed in Italy on September 24, 1943, he was born May 15, 1923 in Dundee Indiana and served after basic training at Ft. McClellan. He is survived by his parents, a brother, a sister, and is to receive military honors by American Legion post 429.

Return of Kenoshaer Cpl Henry Mazzei Killed in England
The body of Cpl. Henry Mazzei 25 killed in an English airplane crash will be returned to Kenosha for final rites. American Legion Post 429 to conduct military services Wednesday. Mazzei, son of Mr and Mrs Mike Mazzei of 5314 Twenty fifth Ave, enlisted in 1941 and served in Medical and Air Corps, later training in Texas Oklahoma and Colorado before overseas duty in 1942. He died July 10 1943. born August 12 1918 in Kenosha. He is survived by his parents two brothers and four sisters.
