Conservative estimates peg the Horse Heaven wheat crop near 100000 dollars for the Kennewick district. Yields average about twenty five bushels per acre, with harvest ahead due to a good stand and winds easing. Ranchers foresee strong receipts boosting local prosperity and related fruit yields.

The Democratic National Convention opened the nominating stage with Clark receiving 440.5 votes, Harmon 148, Wilson 324, Bryan 1, Underwood 117.5, and 63 scattering. Two thirds are needed to nominate, so no candidate reaches the required total on the first ballot. Wilson's strength appears to grow while Clark's support wanes, with Bryan holding decisive influence to potentially name the nominee.
Kennewick moves toward becoming a regional distributing point as F J Arnold starts work on the town’s first community warehouse a two story cement building 50 by 120 feet with a full basement in a plot bounded by rail lines. Two house tracks are promised by railroads and a direct dock outlet is planned once the river opens to traffic. The Panama Canal’s opening is seen as boosting Northwest development with Kennewick poised to benefit.
Anna Christensen of Pasco was arrested on a warrant for murder in the first degree in administering poison to her husband, charged jointly with A R Garey. Garey posted $5,000 bond and returned to Pasco. Jas W McBurney of Seattle named administrator of the Christensen estate and took the children to Seattle.
Miss Cora Sercombe will portray Miss Columbia in the Fourth morning parade with costuming handled by the N. I. L. E. Club of which she is president. Georgia Bower of Richland who was first offered the honor has since backed out and may not attend the celebration.
The steamer W. R. Todd, of the Columbia Steamboat Co, capsized after striking the N P bridge while en route from Pasco to Kennewick. Crew escaped to the bridge, stewardess Mrs Cottman injured slightly, cargo valued at about two thousand dollars aboard at Kennewick dock. Government inquiry expected to probe steering gear failure as a possible cause. The 120 by 18 foot stern-wheel vessel, six years old, rebuilt from the Gerome after a 1906 Homily rapids wreck.

Nine year old George Newton son of Mr and Mrs Chas E Robinson of Finley died when a wagon wheel ran over his head during a Palouse to Finley move. The Kennewick cherry crop yields high value per tree with eight by nine and eight by ten packs proving superior. Theo Kirchner reports six year old trees and a five dollar per tree return, while the crop totals may reach five hundred dollars per acre. Kirchner sold to H H Davis Co and George Hartje sold to Garden Tracts at three dollars per tree.
The third monthly market day will be held tomorrow Saturday with usual sale arrangements. Ranchers expect strong turnout as this between seasons month draws a good crowd.
D S Mearns and Miss Margaret Quealey of Richland were quietly married Wednesday at the Methodist parsonage with Rev C D Rarey officiating. Witnesses were Mr and Mrs H E Comptton of Richland. The couple will likely reside in Richland and have many well wishers from Kennewick and the river communities.
