William H. Bright of the Boston Negro Business League has opened a hardware and kitchen furnishing shop at 8812 Tremont Street Boston Mass. His stock includes window shades gas burners minties chimneys tin enamled brass glassware and crockery. The business is claimed to be unique in New England and operated by a colored man.
A magazine piece quotes Secretary Jopenicus Daniels predicting a coming war between white and black races, claiming the black races will triumph. He reportedly opposes Negroes in the U S armed forces, fearing they may gain influence. The article labels him afraid of Black races and cites his stance on service enrollment.

The program included songs Lead Kindly Light Nearer My God To Thee and God Be With You Tull We Meet Again, remarks by J H Keener and BE Craddock W M, and a duet by Mrs Dollie Salle and Madison M D. Mrs T A Higginbotham, ill, is improving under care of Dr J B Dibble.

Baltimore February 18 Mayor Preston announced a meeting of 150 physicians social workers and representative citizens for next Friday to devise ways to improve Negro health in the city. The Negro death rate is 28 to 22 per thousand while the white rate is 18 to 18.

Twelve Masonic lodges observed a memorial for Past Grand Master M Richetts last Sunday at Centennial M E Church. A processional led by Knights Templers and the Knights Templer band carried about three hundred Blue Lodge members. The program included singing, invocations, solos by Horace Conway and Wheeler, and a Lodge of Sorrow. Eastern Star chapters joined in, marching to the church to pay respect. Miss Melba Shearn of Nashville will visit Mrs Sanford M Patterson on Cottage Avenue March 8.
Unity Lodge A F and A M held a Chapter of Sorrow at St James A M E Church in Helena to mourn Past Grand Master M O Ricketts. Rev Gen F Martin delivered the message, urging Master Masons to live rightly to please the Grand Master. A heavy snowstorm capped a week of community events and notices.
Sunday services were well attended with two new members added. Rev. Moore delivered a fine morning sermon and revival services continue under Rev. Alford. Mrs. A Goins is seriously ill. Mrs. A Johnson and Mrs. M E Jackson returned from Centralia Mo after funeral of their mother Alina Harris in February.
The St James Baptist church held a Thursday afternoon meeting of the ladies group and F M. met. Pastor delivered a morning sermon and evening address. A rally is planned for the last Sunday in March to raise funds for reroofing the church. Mrs J S Cannon bruised from a fall. Mrs Lucinda Russell remains ill. Mrs F Martin of Olathe Kansas visited Rev and Mrs J W Wilson yesterday. Mr Sagimel Russell recently from Buckner Virginian gave concerts in Mond Mo.
