Howard University completes its fifty first commencement with 185 graduates as Dr Newell Dwight Hillis delivers the Commencement Address on a decorated campus before 2000 spectators. Awards include the Alpha Kappa Alpha Prize May Miller and multiple scholarly prizes. honorary degrees go to Henry Thacker Burleigh and John Hope at a ceremony led by Dr J Stanley Durkee.

Bishop Vernon Delivers Sermon at Wilberforce University
Bishop Vernon preached the Baconlaureate sermon at Wilberforce University on Sunday June 13 1920 and attended the Bishops Council in the commencement. He will return to Memphis for a farewell reception by all denominations then spend the summer in Kansas City. The bishop and Mrs Vernon will sail for England in the fall and then proceed to South Africa for his work.
