Catawba Reservation in York County Ends Its Long Subventions
In York County South Carolina the Catawbas retain a 61 acre reservation held for nearly eighty years. About seventy five tribesmen remain on the land which is poor in fertility. The General Assembly has funded an annual appropriation of 47 500 for the tribe and part of the land supports a school for the children.
