The Men's Union hosts a big campus dance titled Resolutions of 49 this Saturday January 8 from 8 to 1 at Welles Palladium. Music by Bobby Davidson and Petrillo's Peasants with tickets distributed by Czar Sievers and associates at 1.25 dollars per couple.
A compact collage from INDEX January 1904 reflects campus humor and opinions. It cites Albion’s Fall pennant win, gymnasium needs funding, labor union tensions, a shift in Freshman rhetoric, last year’s INDEX profits split, Bowen Hall conveniences, and editorials on jokes versus fossil reputations.
The Hornets travel to Indiana to face Valparaiso in a non conference game. Valpo coached by Don Warnke features Ted Bean Bill Scheer Calvin Luther George Schreiber and a tall lineup. Last year Hornets won 49 to 46 and the 54th meeting favors the Hornets 31 to 22.
Dr Stowe opens the second annual Campus Chest drive, praising campus activities as ways to help those less fortunate and urging committee members to aim for another successful campaign. Allen B Stowe delivers best wishes as chairman of the Administrative Committee.
Members of Dr. Kaump's discussion and debate class will host a panel on Wednesday evening January 12 in Harmon lounge. The event begins at 7 30 with students and faculty invited to hear discussion on how much influence the Student Senate should have in school administration.
Le Cercle Français meets in the library club room Monday January 10 at 7 30 pm to elect officers and hear a short talk on French painting with reproductions. Basketball hosts Valparaiso Alpha Lambda Delta Tea and travel talk by Dr Thomas Benner at 8 pm. Weekend events include Mens Union dance Saturday night and several chapel and club programs through Thursday.
The 1949 Campus Chest at K College promotes the World Service Fund to fund medical care TB rest homes soup kitchens and education abroad. CARE The March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society are highlighted as part of a broad relief and health aid push. Students are urged to learn how funds are spent and to give generously.
The 1949 Campus Chest reaches its climax next Wednesday with a chapel service. Sue Strong, Al Grabarek, Marvy Mantin, and Harry Travis will present the Chest and the four beneficiary organizations World Student Service Fund American Cancer Society March of Dimes and CARE.
