Campus Chest Drive Opens With Student Appeal
The first annual Campus Chest drive seeks 1500 dollars to fund the year. Bud Starbuck chairs the Chest committee with Ju Ross Anne Martin aiding in pledges. Donations support World Student Service Fund March of Dimes Cancer Society and Tuberculosis Society plus a small reserve for later appeals. The drive aims to become an annual student fundraising program.

Kalamazoo College Plans Reinstated Orchestra
Kalamazoo College will form a reinstated orchestral group next semester under Marvin K. Feman director of instrumental music. The ensemble, meeting Wednesdays at 3 30, will be mainly strings with a few other players. Credit will be given for participation, and all interested musicians are invited to join.

Kalamazoo College Student Killed in Pre Holiday Crash
A Kalamazoo College junior Arnold J. Phillips 20 of Plymouth was killed when the car he rode in telescoped between two vehicles on US-12 four miles west of Ann Arbor on December 19 1947. Fellow student John Brunarsky 19 of Detroit was critically injured and driver Edwin J. Buresh 19 of Detroit suffered leg and hip injuries.

Pink Prom Returns at K College in February
Co ed dancers line up dates for the Pink Prom at Welles Hall on February 7. Jane Keller chairs the event with Evie Nelson as decorations head Georg ine Phillips leads music Jo Josephson supervises chaperones and Betty Lavaty handles tickets. Bobby Davidson's orchestra provides the music as tickets sell for two dollars in the first week of the new semester.

Snowflake Shuffle Pre-Exam Dance at Kalamazoo College
Kalamazoo College hosts a Snowflake Shuffle on Saturday January 24 on the snow covered quadrangle. The all join in mixer begins at 7 30 pm with Bowen music bonfire and refreshment lounge open. Prizes for the winning freeze and snow figure judging by societies and classes. If weather fails a record dance at Hoben and Bowen screenings will proceed.

Americans from Holland Manuscript Donated to U of M Library
The manuscript of Dr. Mulder’s book Americans from Holland, with author corrections and printers’ directions, was donated by publishers to the Michigan Historical Collections at the University of Michigan. It is the first in the Peoples of America series from J. B. Lippincott Company and attracts scholarly interest.

College Players Plan One Act Contest For Student Directors
The College Players outlined a March 5 one act contest open to all students interested in acting or stage work. Directors must have plays approved by the club board, with mass tryouts to form casts. A prize will go to the best director and cast, following a meeting that featured scenes from three act plays directed by Joyce Halter Grace Gratsch and Bob Dye.
