Registrar announces course elections for the second semester will run from Thursday, January 12 to Saturday, January 21. Advisors will distribute election blanks. Changes include Economics 2 in two sections at 11 30 and updates in Psychology Philosophy and Political Science courses.
A committee of three society presidents the Women's League president and the Dean of Women proposes a modified bidding system for girls to join one of the three societies this year. The plan aims to let girls join the society of their choice using the old system with adjustments.
Freshman women are invited to the literary societies open meeting hosted by the Alpha Sigs on Wednesday January 1 in Bowen top floor room. The program is described as largely secret but promises a good time. the meeting begins at 7 30 p.m.

The Student Fellowship program begins after the holidays with two Kalamazoo College students speaking on Indian affairs. Dennis Groundhog will discuss primitive customs of the American Indian, and Jim Donaghey will cover modern advancements for the American Indian. They are transfer students from an Oklahoma Baptist school. The meeting, at six o clock on January 8, will be in the First Methodist Church recreation hall in Bronson Square.
President Thompson will travel to Louisville Kentucky next week to chair a meeting as part of the annual National Conference of Church Related Colleges held January 8 to 13. The theme is Spiritual Resources and Obligations in Christian Higher Education and he will lead a discussion with leaders from the Northern Baptist schools association of which he is president.
Dwight H. Rich of Lansing Eastern High School will headline the football banquet at the Columbia Hotel with Toastmaster Paul L. Thompson. The event features coaches, co captains, letter winners, and the new 1939 co captain to be announced, followed by a dance with the K Club orchestra.
Community sponsors a busy week in Kalamazoo with a world famous singer, a concert pianist, two forums, a symphony talk, a teachers’ lyceum choir appearance, and Jessica Dragonette. The lineup includes Robert Casadesus at CHS Monday night and Eva Jessye choir at CHS Thursday. A Friday clash with a Hornets basketball game in Grand Rapids may affect attendance.
A radio preview of Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore airs next Wednesday at 1 15 PM on the local station. Overley features leading performers and chorus members in a sixty person cast with Russell Snip announcing and conducting. This marks the first college program in three weeks due to holidays.
Starting Wednesday January 11 the three men’s societies will hold open meetings for fresh men and upperclass non members. The Sherwoods also known as Sigma Rho Sigma will begin with Willie Shale in charge in the alumni room second floor gymnasium space shared with the music department. Subsequent Wednesdays feature the Centuries and the Philos supplying refreshments and entertainment.
