Sickness and accidents touch Kalamazoo college scene
A trio of Kalamazoo College women suffered a serious car crash near Holland on their return from a trip to Kalamazoo. Mildred Spitler sustained a head injury while Marjorie Spitler and Evelyn Grosa were unhurt. Virginia Walton underwent appendectomy, Gladys Andrews also ill with appendicitis, and two administrators Dr Hermon H Severn and Dr Frank B Bachelor have influenza. Lindblom High School hosts all college day with Kalamazoo delegates Paul C Staake George Inlay and Irving Feinstein visiting January 13.

Peace Oratorical Contest Set for Western State Teachers College
Announcement this week notes a Michigan State Peace Oratorical Contest to be held at Western State Teachers College on April 6. Intercollegiate contests reached 24 states in 1936 with 150 colleges. Alfred Fortino of Alma College won the national prize. Three prizes totaling 100 dollars will be awarded. Interested students may contact Mr. Hoben for details.

Air minded student wins plane ride to Detroit
Walter Good, a Parchment High School student, won an airplane ride to Detroit as the top prize in a New Year’s model airplane contest. He entered four planes, took first in three events, and kept the indoor stick model ride after withdrawing from other prizes.

M L A A Plans Indoor and Outdoor Track Meets
The M L A A track committee met at the Columbia hotel during Christmas. They discussed the indoor meet at Hillsdale gym on March 17 and the outdoor track and field program in May with Kalamazoo as the outdoor site. On January 20 1937 Hoben Hall the new men’s dormitory will be formally dedicated at eight o’clock with President Cole presiding An open house may follow after nine. The dedication includes a ceremony exchanging keys among builders Dean Dunbar and Kenneth Davis and a student response prepared by Dunbar and dormitory committee.
