College Glee Club to Perform Sixth Sunday Concert
The College Glee Club hosts its 23rd concert in the Sixth Annual Sunday Afternoon series at Bowen Hall under Prof. Willis F. Dunbar. Soloists Herbert Gilchrist and Kenneth Hunt perform in multiple numbers. Woodwind Ensemble and Male Quartet also contribute. The next program on February 18 features the orchestra directed by Mrs. Aileen Bennett.

Gail Hall a Kalamazoo College junior and former Miss Marian D Brown wed on Saturday at the bride’s parents home on West Michigan avenue. The Rev A Gordon Fawkes officiated. The couple resides at 102 North Westnedge avenue. Mrs Hall is a Maryland College for Women graduate. Hall studied at the University of Berlin and is Frances Hall’s brother. He writes the Listening column for The Index and recently began publishing After 6 O Clock.

Bodley Wins Local Peace Oratorical Contest
Harold Bodley, a Kalamazoo College junior, won the local peace oratorical contest and will represent the college at the district contest in Rockford on Sunday morning. If he finishes in the top three, he advances to the state finals in Grand Rapids the same evening. Fifteen schools compete in two preliminaries with the top six advancing to the finals for prizes totaling 100 dollars. Bodley, new to the campus this year, previously spoke at California Christian College and also belongs to the debate squad.

Christmas Carol Program Echoes Through Stetson Chapel
A full audience welcomed the Women’s League chorus of 60 at Stetson Chapel on Tuesday night December 19. The annual concert, built on the Trowbridge women’s carols, featured white dresses and candlelight with pro and recessional. Suzanne Little, titled Spirit of Christmas, wore red. Jane Easton performed songs including Jesu.

Kalamazoo College Debaters Open Season With Non-Decision Contests
Kalamazoo College opened its debate season with the men's team facing Western State and the women's team traveling to Calvin College. Speakers Delbert Long Howard McCowan Charles Ridley and Donald Helenga argued the resolution that presidential powers be expanded. Debates are non decisive with future dates scheduled including January and February matchups against Hope Ypsilanti Wheaton and league opponents.

Former Local German Instructor Ends Life At Kalamazoo
W P Ernest Hallensleben, former German instructor at Kalamazoo College from 1930 to 1932, was found dead by hanging in Ann Arbor after a personal crisis. He studied at Bonn Koeln Hamburg New York Columbia and Michigan and taught at several colleges including Wisconsin and Hamburg. He was enrolled for graduate work at the University of Michigan and aimed to complete a PhD this week.

Women’s League Council Holds Special Session
A special meeting of the Women’s League Council was held Monday afternoon. Dues were raised from 25 to 50 cents with favorable comment. Current presidents will serve next semester. Betty Henderson elected acting president. Committee reports are scheduled for Thursday February 1. The Council attended a ten hosted by the Western State Women’s League on Tuesday.

Library Receives Three Gift Washington Volumes
The College has received three large bound volumes from the federal government detailing the life of George Washington and his era. The books, part of the 1932 bicentennial celebration, are titled History of the George Washington Bicentennial Celebration and placed in Mandelle library.

Women Clubs Hold Dances On Campus And Park Club
Three women's informal dances opened the new social season with events on campus and at the Park club. Eurodelphians led by Jean McKenzie filled Alumni hall with palm decor and music by Max Shand's orchestra. Alpha Sigma Delta and Kappa Pi hosted gatherings with Virginia Dodds and Constance Crose coordinating the affairs and chaperones present.
