Dr Hornbeck Attends Des Moines Physics Meeting
Professor John W. Hornbeck of the Physics Department spent days at the American Physical Society meeting in Des Moines with scholars from mathematics to anthropology. He noted the Physics Section focused on wave mechanics replacing orbital electron models and heard lectures by Irving Fisher Henry Gale Bridgman and Millikan among others on theory and experiment in modern spectroscopy and the social science applications of mathematics.

Becht to Receive Appointment to U.S. Naval Academy
Lawrence Becht, known as Bunny, is set to be appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, effective after graduation next June. Representative Joseph L Hooper announced the move. Becht has excelled in football basketball track tennis and baseball and was Kalamazoo Central High School’s Lions Club medalist. He is also Kalamazoo College's first student admitted to the Naval Academy.
