Window displays and church attendance will mark the opening of Girl Scout Week beginning March 11. The 10 Girl Scout Laws will be emphasized with displays set up Saturday to stay through next week. A history program directed by Mrs. M. J. Nethery Jr. will be shown at the Men’s Bible Class Sunday morning with participants listed from several troops and churches.
A Schraub employee on sick leave since Saturday due to a sciatic issue began sitting up on Wednesday and hopes to be back at work soon. The message notes the individual is listed as age House, on sick leave.
Fragmentary report states Cotty Ferguson of the Sec Gnade suffered an outbreak of measles on Tuesday. The illness is described as the same disease encountered in his youth, with his father identified as Ferguson.
A San Antonio firm won the RM 385 project in Kimble County with a bid of 159,957.50 for grading structures base and surfacing from the present end of RM 385 southeast to Harper area. J A Snell San Angelo announced the award in Austin. G L Rogers will manage the project and completion is estimated at 120 days.
Ruth Simon Bode, local artist, invited to exhibit at the annual outdoor Art Festival on the courthouse grounds in Fredericksburg March 31 and April 1. She has long been active in art circles, earning blue ribbons and cash awards, with Flowers From the Rock Garden featured in the Circuit Exhibit of the Texas Fine Arts Association where she served as trustee for ten years.

Charles Ray Dobbs was voted the outstanding athlete at the Comanche Relays in Ft Stockton where he led as high point contestant, winning both the 120 high hurdles and the 180 low hurdles with times of 15.4 and 20.6 respectively. The Eagles tied for first with Andrews Mustangs at 28 points. Jerry Dutton set a new 880 yard record in 2:04.9, and Junction won the mile relay in 3:32.9 with Colorado City. Other thirds and fourths were recorded by Millard Bennett Ted Bolt Jesse Cordero Mickey Cavaness and runners from Crane Monahans and Alpine.
At a Hotel Las Lomas meeting the Rotary board elected R D Dick Borden as president for the coming year. He takes office in July. Grady Rogers was named vice president Hubert Fields treasurer Maurice Nethery Jr secretary. Other directors include Ted Holkamp Cecil Woodard and Geo Vierling with the immediate past president as advisor.
The Junction Eagles will travel Saturday morning at 7:30 with about 18 athletes to Taylor for the Cotton Relays. Coaches D P D J Barton and Frank Hubbell will lead the group. Bob Short, a Taylor alumnus, returns as Tayl or coach and meet organizer.
Mrs Jordan Cunningham will present a talk titled Its High Time at the regular P TA meeting Monday March 12 at 730 pm in the high school auditorium. W J Cox and department boys will perform a skit junior high mothers will provide refreshments and the annual election of officers will be held Mrs R P James president urges members to attend the business meeting.

Newby was re elected fire chief and Sherman Rimes named president as 21 members of the Junction Volunteer Fire Department met Monday evening to choose new officers. E. Wiedeman R. B. McKinney Farrell Brooks and more on the advisory board and staff. Bruns, retiring president and nominating chair, reported on the committee with Meredith and Milton Cavaness also serving.
Rev. Bill Williams of Lindell Baptist Church San Angelo is scheduled to preach at Junction Baptist Church next Sunday morning at 11:00 oclock. Cecil E Voodard reports the invitation is open to all interested attendees.
Mr and Mrs T K Rodman and Mrs John Kline of Corpus Christi spent Friday night at the Albert W Searcy home enroute from Booneville Ark where they attended funeral services for their father Rev J P Rodman on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Woodard spent Wednesday in Kerrville enjoying a day away from home. They visited local sites and returned in the evening.
Jackson J Sagoni, son of a minor chieftain from Africa, will speak at the College Street Church of Christ on Wednesday March 14. He speaks seven languages and four dialects. An offering will be taken and his pay will fund ministerial training for other natives.
M E Worrell, longtime resident since 1948, was awarded life membership in the American Society of Engineers at a Dallas national meeting. He joined the association over 35 consecutive years, with a career spanning engineering and construction. Born in Indiana, he moved to Texas in 1919 with his wife, applying his work across the state with his sons now renowned in the field.
Mrs. Jack Reeves directs the annual Easter Pageant set for March 31 and has scheduled regular semi weekly practices on Mondays and Thursdays. M E Worrell and James M Holt of the Men's Bible Class sponsor the event. Practice will be held tonight for all of the Disciples.
March 25 is the date chosen for the annual father and son Cub Scout kite flying contest at Kimble County Golf Course. Meeting notes record starting time at 3 30 p.m. and a March Round Table hosted by Mr and Mrs Jack Jones with Gene Jones presiding. Robert S Evins will lead when Cubs and workers meet March 12 at 3 30 p.m. at the Scout Hut for a regular session. Also announced are added badge and arrow point awards: David Wallace Wolf badge. Kenny Neal gold arrow point and two silver arrow points under Bear badge.
Alderman R. B. McKinney, a leading business man and civic worker, files as a new candidate for city alderman. J. L. Baugh and A. C. Harte seek re election for two year terms. Filing closed with City Secretary Minnie Riley. Absentee voting begins March 14 and ends March 30 at the courthouse with H. G. Hubert as presiding judge. Mayor H. E. Wright notes the post was left vacant by the death of J. D. Blackburn and mentions last year’s two year terms for H. Wright and Tom Hardeman. Jess McKiddy followed H. L. Howard who resigned after being elected then.

Kimble County FHA committee authorizes drouth emergency feed applications to April 15 1956. Applications accepted Monday through Friday each week until March 16. Producers have two weeks to apply for the feed assistance.
In Junction Public Schools a PTA barbecue at Legion Memorial Hall honored ten teachers with service pins totaling 196 years. Bronze pins recognized 10 to 17 years, silver for 20 to 26 years, and gold for 31 and 45 years. Superintendent John Long and School Board President Tommie Murr led the ceremony with a PTA steering group organizing the supper for about 270 attendees.
R. S. Evins, Gwyn House, and Joe Norris, delegates from the Tri-River District, attended an Explorer training program in Uvalde. The session, for Cubs Scouts and Explorers, served delegates from the Concho Valley Council's 23 counties who will train other workers in their districts.
