The Junction Eagle announces a new local telephone directory to be published this week and finished within a week or ten days. Advertisers are offered fair rates and are urged to contact immediately to reserve space in the directory to be distributed to most county homes.
The local Baptist Church announces a protracted meeting starting Sunday July 5 led by the John G Winsett Evangelistic party of Abilene. It is a cooperative effort inviting all Christians or those with no profession to worship together. Watch the Eagle for further announcements. E L Kelley pastor.
A frontier editorial extols merit and warns of indifference in workers. State Game, Fish and Oyster official Hale visits Del Rio en route to Mason while aiming to help form an Izaak Walton League chapter. Mrs. Mary Jane Sheppard wife of W H Sheppard died Monday at the family home a mile east of town after a brief illness She was born January 6 1858 in Arkansas came to Texas in 1873 and lived in Bandera Mason Kimble counties and Oklahoma before moving back to Kimble in 1923 Survived by three children Gus Tom and Bernice Reid and five other children not present Funeral services were held in Mason with pastors J J Ray and Garrett and interment followed in Mason Cemetery
A family expresses sincere thanks and appreciation to all who assisted during the illness and home-going of their wife and mother. They remember with gratitude the kind words and deeds and wish blessings to guide those who helped along life’s pathway.
The Eagle reports abundant fish in Kimble county streams with evidence from expert anglers R. H. Mayfield and Lacy. Mayfield caught nineteen channel carp weighing one to five pounds on one hook near town, then seven fish from one to two pounds in under two hours. A passerby near Price's Camp caught a fifty-seven pound catfish and another at V H Ranch boasted seventy pounds of channel cats that day, feeding campers. Local visitors include Mr and Mrs Frank Calleott and daughter Virginia, staying with Doc Weldon and Judge Stevenson, from New York City where Calleott is a Spanish professor at Columbia University.
Jim Riddle and Maudie Durbon were married Tuesday night May 19 at the Baptist Parsonage by Rev. E L Kelley. Riddle is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs Joe P Riddle of Eightmile and Durbon is the daughter of Mrs Durbon living about ten miles west of Junction.
Charles E. Hughes urges end to treating criminal trials as grand tournaments. He argues justice must prevail over showmanship, with judges enforcing fair process for the community. His remarks mark a strong stand against theatrical courtroom conduct.
W. P. Riley and E. Holecamp were in San Antonio the first of the week as part of their official engagements.

J S Fleming and wife went to Brownwood last Wednesday due to Mrs J M Carson illness. Mr Fleming returned Tuesday but Mrs Fleming remained a few days. He noted little rain at Brownwood Brady or Mason and muddy roads appeared only after returning through Mason.
John R. Rennie was appointed County Surveyor at the last Commissioners Court meeting and announces readiness to handle surveying countywide. He is manager of Llano Valley Realty Co. with an office in the Stevenson and Baker Building. Rev and Mrs E L Kelley returned from San Antonio and he filled the pulpit at First Baptist Linton. he notes southeast San Antonio area is dry and cotton in Linton appears to fail this year. The Church of Christ meeting led by T W Phillips of San Antonio closed with four additions. We will buy clean cotton rags at the Eagle office.
