Kimble County records show an average annual rainfall of 26.3 inches, with 34.53 inches in 1932 surpassing prior marks by 8.23 inches. December brought 1.44 inches, aiding fine plowing conditions, while stockmen report abundant feed and favorable winter weather. The period ends with hopes for better farm prices amid overproduction.
Rev. R Neal Greer will preach at the Segovia school house next Sunday afternoon after Sunday School. Everybody is invited to attend. Mr and Mrs Joe Boyer of Dallas and Dr and Mrs R L Peters of Austin visited their parents during the holidays. Rep and Mrs Coke R Stevenson with Mr and Mrs Coke R Stevenson Jr of Austin were their guests during the Christmas season.
Sixteen members of the local Lions Club attended the Mason group meeting with broad district representation. Attendance honors went to Richland Springs and Santa Anna, with a note that the former won the banner and the latter the goat for best attendance despite last summer’s patterns. Attendees from Junction included G. H. Delano, B. L. Smith, Cecil Craven, Leon Powell, and others.
Junction Exes defeated Kerrville 18 to 0 in a clean hard fought game noted for sportsmanship. Key plays featured Bill Wright, L Dunbar, and Witt with strong lines and a first quarter rally sealing the win.
Mr and Mrs J D Land were Del Rio visitors on Wednesday and Thursday. Ben Warren Urban born December 31 in Houston to Mr and Mrs Vic Urban. Grandparents and Aunt Josephine look forward to meeting the boy. Alton Miller of Rocksprings hosts a daughter Alta Mae born December 29. Fletcher Sullivan of Flatonia visited with Howell Wrights. Lulu Dean Patterson returned home to Johnson City after relatives visit. Mrs L D Ivys extended California visit.
The Junction First Baptist Church announces a week long B T S revival starting January 15 1933 led by Miss Conn Dallas field secretary for Young Peoples work. She has conducted successful revivals at Robert Lee Eden and Haskell with praise from local educators and ministers. The program includes classes for all ages and state workers will visit.
New oath takers join the Kimble County government as Ramsey Randolph sheriff and tax collector J C Graham becomes sheriff and tax collector and R L Becker Jack Aice and Henry Grobe assume commission roles. Official lineup for two years includes Ramsey Randolph county and district clerk Joe Bissett tax assessor Annie Highsmith treasurer and others while several veterans retire.
Large crowd gathers at City Bakery on December 24 as three Christmas fruit cakes are awarded. Mrs. Jake Bissett takes first prize with the three pound cake. C. E. Reid and Lawson Johnson take second and third with smaller cakes. The piece promotes support for local, homeowned bakers over San Antonio competition and urges community patronage to keep prices steady.
In Fort Worth area news the Rev Oren Reid and his wife faced tragedy after Mrs Reid drowned in a Glen Rose pool while on a church retreat. Mrs E K Baker dies at Cleo on Morales Ranch at 78 after pneumonia. Baker leaves daughter Mrs Dan Morales and two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
J. W. Coffey aged 76 and his grandson Henry Walker traveled from their Noxville community ranch to Junction on Tuesday to tend business. The Eagle notes Coffey remains in fine health and handles his range with vigor during the visit.
The Eagle forces unable to publish last week as the final member fell ill with the flu. Much of the planned material appears this week, marking the first missed issue in many years.
Mrs. Ovie Buster visited Corpus Christi last week. Mrs. VD L Williams hosted guests during the holidays Dr. and Mrs. L J Gregory of Boerne.
