Mrs Slater Fleming hosted a Wednesday afternoon bridge gathering for the Merry Wives Club honoring Mrs J M Carson of Brownwood. Prizes included a china bon bon to Mrs A D Kendrick and two tea towels to Mrs C R Stevenson, with Mrs Joe Watson receiving a week end bag. New members were elected, officers chosen, and refreshments featured fruit salad with whipped cream, chicken salad sandwiches, olives, chips, oat meal drops and hot tea.
At one oclock last Saturday Rev. Dekle joined Cleve J. Stephens and Mrs Vara James in marriage at the Junction Baptist Church. The groom owns Junction Tailor Shop and has long resided here. The bride, daughter of Mrs R J Pickett, has operated a millinery and ladies ready to wear shop in town. They plan a Dallas visit then home in Junction. Also note C W Herbst and Miss Thekla Land wed at Baptist Parsonage.
Wade Smith of North Llano was struck on the road between Menard and Eden last Sunday. He suffered a broken leg and other injuries, and was taken first to Menard then to his brother W. A. Smith's home for care. Visiting attorneys at the term include Carl Runge, Frank Hartgraves, Horrace E. Wilson, and Judge Linden. Brownwood visitors Felton Wright and son Robbie, plus Mattie Wright teaching at Murr School, were mentioned. Additional items note livestock for sale, a Ford touring car, and a lost yellow Shepherd puppy with white stripe.
Rev W L Downing Presbyterian minister of Kerrville will conduct services for that denomination at the Methodist Church at the morning hour Sunday of this week.
