Services Held For D. E. Williamson In Lockhart

Funeral services for Duncan E. Williamson 70 died Friday at a Fredricksburg area hospital were held in Lockhart with the First Christian Church minister officiating. Burial followed in Lockhart. Williamson a Junction pharmacist and former Houston pharmacist married to Faye Storey in 1942 moved from Houston to Junction then built a two story rock apartment house on Pecan Street. He was born April 3 1885 in Cherokee to late Dr. and Mrs. James A Williamson. Survivors include his wife two sons James and Duncan Jr and daughter Mrs Ralph Russell all of San Antonio two grandchildren a Houston based step son M S Lindsay and sister Sallie Williamson of Austin.

County Officials Keep 1956 Salaries Across the Board

Kimble County minutes show officials and employees remaining on total annual salaries for 1956 totaling 32 213 68. Packaged on a salary basis payable in equal monthly installments are county judge Walter Leamons and other officials including Sheriff J O Wright, Clerk Thelma Schrier, County Attorney Albert Searcy, Treasurer Ola Wilder, and commissioners from Precinct 1 through 4 with various deputy posts and stipends.

Leti Study Club Essay Contest Promotes Disaster Relief

Leti Study Club sponsors an essay contest titled Our Part In Disaster Relief for high school students from Feb 3 to 17 as a civil defense project. Prizes include a $25 Savings bond for first and $10 in savings stamps for second. Vernon Jones county civil defense coordinator will judge along with two others. Mrs Luke Murr will collect entries and pamphlets on safety rules for tornadoes fires floods and bombings are in printers' hands for district distribution.

Accident Victim James Williams Laid To Rest In Eden

Funeral services for James Roy Williams 17 who died from a head injury in a Thursday night traffic crash were held Friday at 4 p m at the Eden Baptist Church. Burial followed in Eden Cemetery. Williams a Brady native resided with former classmate Dorman Vick and worked as night service man at Humble Station. Survivors include his mother Zephie Farmer two sisters Betty Jo Williams and Mrs Herman White. Damon Lewis and Dorman Vick accompanied the body to Eden and returned for services.

Funeral Services for Euel J. Smith Held in Junction

Funeral services for Euel Jackson Smith 54 who died at home after a heart attack Saturday were conducted Monday afternoon at the Hodges Funeral Home chapel with W W Leamons and Rev B W Mantooth officiating. Burial followed in Junction Cemetery. He was born March 4 1901 in Longview married Mildred Elizabeth Wallace in Lubbock and lived in Austin before moving to Junction in 1945 where he worked for the Junction school system. He was a member of the Brownfield Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife six sons six daughters two sisters and one brother. Pallbearers were John Long Sherman Rimes Walter Adkins Harvey Lee Ramsey Frank Hubbell and W J Cox.

Junction Key in Race for State Aid to Build Hospital

Dr. Dean F. Winn outlined the plan at City Hall noting Junction and Kimble County lack hospital beds and are seeking state assistance. He presented cost factors including 550-600 square feet per bed, $18 per square foot for air conditioning, $1650 per bed for equipment, a soil survey of $300-$500, and a 6 percent architect’s fee on total funds.

John R. Martin Rites Held Here Monday at 3 P. M.

Funeral services for John Rowland Martin 89 were held Monday at 3 p.m. from the College Street Church of Christ with E M Steph ministering. Burial was in Junction cemetery. He was born in Clarksville December 24 1866 and lived in Junction most of his life. He served as county treasurer bank director and school trustee and was a longtime member of the College Street Church of Christ. He married Stella McMillan July 8 1891. Survivors include his wife two sons six daughters nine grandchildren eight great grandchildren and three cousins. Pallbearers included grandsons Dr Ted Corkill and Lee Corkill.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wm McAngus are planned this Thursday afternoon with Hodges Funeral Home in charge. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Tom Love and died in El Paso Tuesday night around 11 o clock. Her body was brought to Junction Wednesday evening.
