It notes limits: total owed not beyond 20 percent of yearly income, payments not more than 10 percent of monthly income to any creditor, and debts not exceeding a third of post‑essential expenses. It explains prudent budgeting, avoiding balloon notes, and keeping credit within safe limits.
Card thanks contributors to a project giving 272 toys to 92 children. Applauds American Legion Auxiliary for doll renovations and Legion members for toy repairs. Six high school girls under Mrs. Marvin Blackburn presented the Christmas story at the December meeting hosted by Mrs. R. D. Kothmann. Nancy Hagood and Barbara Lee Cunningham read aloud while Cheryl McKinney Caryl McKinney Susan Dechert and Judy Byrd formed a vocal quartet. Mrs. Albert Searcy and Mrs Eugene L. Strickland sang O Holy Night directed by Mrs. Lee Craven. Roll call toy donations for charity followed. The group voted to assist a drivers clinic with West Texas Utilities Co and named Mrs. Rothmann club chairman with other committees appointed.
Mrs. Howard Ragsdill read the Christmas story Peace On Earth at the La Junta Study Club gathering held last Wednesday at Mrs. W. E. Allen home. Co hosts with Mrs. Allen were Mmes. R C. Sec rest L. R. Allen H. H. Lawler Ward Terrell and J. S. Farmer. Mrs. H. G Hubert led. Carols were sung and gifts for a Christmas cheer basket were arranged for delivery by Mrs. Allen. George W Vierling presided as president and served coke from the decorated table. About 30 members attended the event.
Mr and Mrs Asa Farmer spent Christmas in Austin at the Joe Boyer home sharing holiday time with family.
A Christmas party and dance on December 29 drew twenty one members and ten guests, showcasing community social activity and participation.
Mr and Mrs Roy Gilliam visited Mr and Mrs Arthur Dunbar in San Antonio during the Christmas weekend. E H McNutt and Mr and Mrs Charles Glover were in Lampasas for the same holiday period.
Miss Beverly Baker returns from San Antonio to spend Christmas at home with family, sharing vacation cheer and holiday plans.
Mr and Mrs H H Boerm head back to Kennedy after visiting relatives.
Mr and Mrs Charles T Flocke and Debra Dot departed Tuesday following a visit with Mrs Flocke's mother Mrs Mattie Patterson and aunt Mrs Dorothy Westmoreland in a hometown social function.
Mr and Mrs Don Moore depart Wednesday for their home in China Lake California after visiting Mr and Mrs W M Moore and relatives since their marriage in the fall.
