Bazaar Notes and Holiday Sewing Meeting

The Methodist Church ladies plan a last sewing meeting with Mrs Geo Cavaness on Friday December 3 to display completed articles for the bazaar. A prior sewing session with Mrs E R Bowden yielded delicious homemade candy. The bazaar is set for Saturday December 11 with invitations extended to the public to attend and patronize the event. Reverend G H Lang of Kerrville will conduct services at the Methodist Church on Sunday and bring a quartet of Schreiner Institute boys to provide music.

Farmers Prepare Ground for Next Year on South Llano

Walter Savage has worked on the Moran Ranch the past week. Miss Dottie Fleming of Rock Springs visited her brother Lem at the ranch. A dance at Paint Creek school house drew the younger set. The Utility Co adds material at the ranch for improvements. Mrs. M. Huffman visited home folks on the ranch, returning to Junction Sunday. Eloise Hardeman hosted a dance with her granddaughter honored, Miss Eloise Hardeman. Rev J J Ray preached at Evergreen with good attendance. Mesdames Moran Tuegers and Walter Savage hosted at the F M Hodges home. Gussie Flossie Boone and Doris Jones attended singing at Roscoe Stephenson’s. Eloise Hardeman spent Thanksgiving with home folks and returned to Austin Monday with her mother Mrs Guy Wynne.

Sunday School Party At Mrs Massie Home

Primary Department teachers entertained pupils and friends last Friday afternoon at Mrs Jim Massies home. Thanksgiving decorations featured turkey silhouettes a large pumpkin with vines and autumn leaves. Little Miss Lenore Riley celebrated her birthday Monday inviting her playmates to an autumn decorated living room. After games the lemonade stand offered red lemonade and cake with pink candles. Guests received toy balloons as they wished Lenore many happy returns.

Aileen Garrett enjoyed a Saturday party hosted by Audrey Barrett with friends sharing gifts and cake as autumn decor set a festive mood. A large group attended the Texas A and M game in Austin. Oliver of State College lists ten common poultry failures: dark damp drafts, dirty or stagnant drinking water, lack of fresh air and sunshine, infrequent cleaning, overcrowded unsanitary houses and yards, exposed dead birds, sick birds with the flock, damp low locations, insufficient water and shade in summer. He urges proper space, about three square feet per hen, seven to ten inches of roosting space, and clean quarters.

A Grobe and Ivey School box supper raised 108.30 with an enthusiastic crowd. The top boxed bid was 8.30 by Capt. Johnnie Freeman. Teachers Orland Stewart and Miss Wooten lead a successful term, with generous county hospitality and strong school support. J B Randolph witnessed the event.

Birthday Surprise for Mrs Jetton Draws Family Visit

Last Wednesday Mrs L H Jetton enjoyed a birthday day as her children and families arrived with baskets of goodies. Afternoon tea featured hidden friends, cake, hot tea and bonbons sung by guests. B O Newby Earl Tracy and Rudolph Becker are on a hunting trip in Brewster and Presidio counties. L A Warren returned from an extended Winter Garden trip and spoke highly of that area.
