District Attorney Baker Aids Goat Theft Crackdown in Bandera
District Attorney Weaver H. Baker and special Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers officers Gully Cowsert led a Bandera County operation last week that resulted in three men being arrested for three cases of goat theft. The campaign aims to curb rustling in the Hill Country and prisonyard prospects look favorable for others in custody. Meanwhile farmers report success in protecting cotton from leafworm using calcium arsenate, with other chemicals used as supplementary treatments. Mrs. W F Hausmann visited friends and relatives in San Antonio last week.

Hill Country Fireman's Association Meeting in Menard
The HCFA held its semi annual convention in Menard Texas on August 13 with about 200 firemen in attendance. Officers voted to shift the February 1936 meeting to Brownwood and the August 1936 meeting to Junction. Menard won pumper race with 23 12 seconds, Coleman 25, Sonora 28. A barbecue supper and a dance followed.

District Court Convened With Busy Term And Sentences
The district court convened Monday with the district attorney sheriff and others in cooperation for the law enforcement program. The county jail overflowed as August term opened under Judge Joe G. Montague. A grand jury was empaneled and four felonies indictments were returned by Tuesday noon. The court set docket items and tried several non jury cases including divorces. The State of Texas v Earl Huffman and Bill Foley resulted in four year suspended sentences for each. Bill Games received a two year suspended sentence. The cases of Buster Silliken Dan Smith and Lloyd White for theft of copper wire from West Texas Utilities were on trial as the paper went to press.

Pre School PTA Hosts Meeting and Plans in High School
The local Parent-Teacher Association held a Wednesday afternoon pre school meeting in the high school auditorium.
