Relief program office visit aids Kimble county plans
George R. Pepper Ramsey Randolph and Miss Emily Boekhaus visited Brownwood on Wednesday to review the Kimble county relief program. They learned that plans and specifications for all work projects can be needed and that proper boards along the line can understand them for rapid passage.

Absentee Voters Charged 24 Percent Fee For Ballots
The law amended by the Legislature requires all voters casting absentee ballots to pay a 24 cent fee whether voting in person or by mail. Absentee voting for the August 24 election begins no earlier than twenty days before the election for mail voters and between three and fifteen days for in person voters.
Mrs. Verena Honig Dies at 71 in Gillespie Community
Verena Andregg Honig died Tuesday at noon in Gillespie. Born April 12, 1864 in Mason county, she lived in the Hill Country all her life. She married William Honig November 1, 1884. surviving children include E J Honig Austin Dan Honig Harper Sam Honig Ben Honig E M Honig Mrs Bertha Arnold Mrs Will Hayes Miss Lillie Honig Mrs Remmert Folkerts Mrs Fred Clements and three sons-in-law. Funeral services were conducted in Fredericksburg and Leiningen Church with interment at the family cemetery. Her husband died May 14, 1926. She leaves brothers Martin Dan Henry Andregg and sisters Mrs Lawrence Wendel Mrs Jacob Siefert Mrs Chas Schmidt Mrs John Eckert Mrs Adolph Dittmar and Mrs Henry Sauer. She was active in church and community affairs.

Boy Scouts to Attend National Scout Jamboree in Washington
Three full Boy Scout troops of 36 boys and leaders and nearly two Sea Scout crews total 120 youths and Scouters from the Concho Valley Council and West Texas head to Washington D C for the National Scout Jamboree August 21 30. The council covers 1614 counties of West Texas and is sending the largest contingent for its population region.

Jarvis Jordan Enters U S Military Academy at West Point
Jarvis Jordan son of Mrs Agnes Jones left in June for West Point to enter the U S Military Academy and was sworn in July 1. He was assigned to the Third Company by Major General W D Connor. The 514 cadets begin with a six week intensive program of drills and lectures before joining the Corps of Cadets. They will march in August and live in shelter tents during a five day practice trek in the Catskills. Classes start September 1 from 8 to 3 with afternoon drills and intramural athletics.
