Vv. L. Millsap, once crippled by a leg injury, walked with a stick on Saturday. San Antonio relatives Mrs. B. L. Upshaw and daughter Marimyn visited Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Dunk over the weekend. Mrs. Roy King returned from Fort Thomas Ky, where her son Brown King was seriously ill but improving. she traveled by plane there and by train and bus back.

Kimble County B-24 Engineer Enlists in U S Service
Carlton Massie son of Jim Massie was among Kimble County youths to join the U S armed forces. He enlisted at Randolph Field on September 27 1939 served there until May 2 1941 then transferred to Ellington Field. He has seen duty at San Diego and Nashville and is now with the 1013th Pilots Transition Training Squadron at Fort Worth Texas as a master sergeant engineer on Consolidated B 26 bombers.

Enlisted in Air Corps Mason Heads to Officers Training
Willis A. Mason son of Mr and Mrs Willis Mason enlisted in the Air Corps in San Antonio January 28 1942 but only called to active service June 3 1942. He served briefly at Kelly and Randolph Fields before transfers to Victory Field Vernon Texas and then Tarrant Field Fort Worth where he is chief clerk in the Provost Marshal office. He has passed all OC S exams and awaits assignment.

Phillip Joseph Dies After Months of Illness in Junction
Phillip Joseph, prominent Junction merchant since 1910, died at his home on April 21 1943 after a prolonged heart ailment. Born May 20 1888 in Austria Hungary he journeyed from New York to Texas and built a thriving business from a small 1910 shop to a larger Junction store. Funeral rites were held in Schreiner Hodges Chapel and final burial took place in San Antonio. Active pallbearers included Omer Wright Clay Secrest and others. Continued on page four.

Maurice Paxton Noll son of Mrs Stella Noll received his commission last Thursday after graduating from the U S Army Advanced Flying School at Pampa Texas He is a Kerrville Trvy High School graduate who has visited his mother in Kimble County and has many friends congratulating him on his accomplishments The Junction Eagle is not advised of his assignment but he will render his Government and the cause of democracy.

Second War Loan Drive Doubles Kimble Quota Milestone
Co. T ifolekamp chairs Kimble County War Finance Committee directing a quota of 520,000 in the Second War Loan. Junction National Bank was asked to take 530,000 more bonds. Additional bonds totaling 5100,000 beyond the 5202,000 quota have been purchased, with reports due May 1 suggesting the total will more than double.

Citizens Rally Raises War Bond Quota in Kimble County
Kimble County volunteers joined the Second War Loan drive as the campaign nears close Friday night. The Junction National Bank and local citizens aggregated about 200000 in bonds, with Southland Life Insurance contributing 10000. County Chairman C T Holekamp reports strong local support and hopes for a final update after Friday.
Victory Garden Meeting Tonight Discusses Summer Insects
A public Victory Garden meeting will be held this Thursday at 8 30 pm in the Vocational Agriculture room. The program covers Summer Insects and their Control with a brief food value review and practical notes on irrigation pruning staking spraying and disease control for vegetables and tomatoes.
