Tragic Drowning of Two-Year-Old James Linden Fleming
The two year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lem Fleming drowned at the family home northeast of Junction last Saturday afternoon after wandering to a nearby tank. Funeral services were held Sunday at Schreiner Hodges chapel with Rev. Harral A Hall officiating. Pallbearers included Troy Fleming Lacy Fleming Temple Deats and John Edwards. He is survived by his parents a brother Lemuel Jr and a sister Loraine and many relatives. Out-of-town mourners included Mrs. Frank Edwards Fr Stockton Mr and Mrs Frank Edwards San Antonio and Mrs Butz Fort Stockton. These sad dispensations are beyond human understanding.

Phillip Joseph Dies In Kimble County
Phillip Joseph longtime Kimble County merchant died at home after a long heart illness. Funeral services with Rabbi Tamarkin will be held at Schreiner-Hodges Funeral Home Thursday afternoon. Final services and interment in Aguadas Achim Cemetery San Antonio will occur Friday. An extended life tribute will appear next week.

Bond Drive Nears Final Success in Kimble County
Kimble County War Finance Committee finished organizing the Second War Loan drive and is close to securing the $102,000 target. Junction National Bank bought $50,000. $52,000 remains to be purchased by county citizens. The campaign urges patriotic support as letters went to residents and the community aims to “go over the top.”

Roosevelt native joins U.S. Armed Forces in 1942
Lee A Joy of Roosevelt enlisted March 2, 1942, at Fort Bliss El Paso. He moved to Fort Leonard Wood for four months then joined the 2nd division at Fort Sam Houston in the Engineers Battalion Co C. He left July 2 for maneuvers in Louisiana, returned to San Antonio in September, remained until November 1942, then transferred to Camp McCoy Wisconsin. Mohair Theft Leads to Arrests on Lewis Ranch
Eight sacks and two pockets of mohair were reported stolen from R. R. Lewis ranch on the South Llano River Monday night. Babe Luxton of Uvalde, Lee Luxton, and Bunt Petty of Junction were arrested and jailed in Kimble County after authorities traced the haul to nearby routes. Petty posted a $1,000 bond. details remain scant as grand jury action is awaited in August.

Local Boy Scouts Hold Second Spring Camp
Local Boy Scouts departed Friday for an emergency camp at the South Llano scout grounds. No cooking utensils or matches were allowed. fires were made by hand drills. They swam before supper, held a camp fire program, and taps at eleven. Rain forced a hasty retreat to shelter, then dawn brought return to the grounds for swimming and life saving lessons. Camp ended Saturday at 10 o'clock.
