A wedding in San Antonio united Julius F Holekamp and Idell Franklin with only immediate relatives present. The groom’s parents Mr E Holekamp of Junction attended, noting Julius’s Junction roots. Miss Oswalt of Brownwood visits the Ridenhows this week.
Mrs. Van Martin entertained the Fidelis Class of the Baptist Church on Thursday afternoon April 18 at her home. Officers installed included Mrs. Lanan Bissett president and Mrs. J W McLendon reporter with Sun Shine Sisters to perform later. A social hour followed with refreshments served to members and guests.
Mrs Oscar Duderstadt hosted the Little Contract Club with guest of honor Mrs Noah Smith of San Antonio as supplies and spring blooms brightened the rooms. Mrs John Phillips hosted La Junta Study Club with April 17 program featuring plays Nowadays and Beyond the Horizon and discussions on Eugene ONeill and theater technique.
Mrs Dillard Motley hosted a Friday evening event at Hodges Hotel Acuna Mexico for Mrs Lee Craven a bride last month. Guests included Katherine Parker and a long list of local residents. The affair featured pink decor eggs chocolates and feathered guests mingling with bridge prizes and favors.
Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell McLendon hosted the Little Club gathering with guests including Mr. and Mrs. Lee Craven. Mrs. Oscar Duderstadt won the ladies high score and Mr. Pierce Hogget of Menard took the men’s prize. The Cravens received a gift, and a salad course was served to a list of attendees.
Mrs Clint Barnes hosted a Saturday Easter party for her daughter Carolyn with games and an eye hunt. Miniature nests with candy eggs invited party favors and a refreshment plate was served. Guests included Anne Bannowsky Jessie Joe Cavaness and others with visitors from Austin. Local notices follow.
A surprise wedding took place Tuesday April 16 1935. Miss Billie Goodwin daughter of Mr and Mrs C A Goodwin married James Henry Parker son of Mr and Mrs T P Parker of Noxville in Villa.
The Contractor's Club hosted a Wednesday April 20 gathering at Mrs. Lee Craven's home. Roses adorned rooms, prizes included atomizers won by Audrey and Nevada Blackburn, Mae Delle Lowry won a deck of cards, Mrs. Tommie Murr received a Easter novelty, and silver coffee spoons were presented. Tea, cake and light fare were served to Laura Black Helen Barnes and Maud.
