Smithfield Police Chief Pete Hedrick describes the Friday actions at Smithfield Selma High School after a gun threat. He says officers arrived with guns drawn and that the force used was more proactive than in the past, aiming to be forward-thinking in school threat responses.
Hedrick says about 60 officers from county agencies gathered across the county to handle a Smithfield-Selma High School exchange. Veetee Foods Inc plans a $35.7 million plant at Eastfield Crossing in Selma to produce ready-to-heat rice and pasta.
