Johnston schools celebrate gains amid low performers

Four Oaks area schools kept D grades this year while Johnston County Public Schools moved up from 83rd to 35th in North Carolina rankings. East Clayton Elementary dropped to a D, leaving only one low-performing school in the district, according to State Board of Education results released at Four Oaks Middle School.

The Complete 540 Phase 1 extension from the N C 55 Bypass in Apex to the I 40 I 42 interchange in Johnston County opens at 6 a.m. Sept. 25.
