Downtown traffic speeds on Market Street revealed
A study for Smithfield shows slower than expected traffic on Market Street from Front Street to Bright Leaf Boulevard with westbound speeds averaging 18 mph in front of the courthouse and 25 mph near First Citizens while eastbound speeds reach about 28 mph. The North Carolina Department of Transportation commissioned the survey and a consulting firm conducted the work.
