Funeral Held Monday For C. L. Campbell
Funeral services for Charles Leonard Campbell retired saw mill operator were held Monday at 4 p.m. from the First Baptist Church in Jefferson with Rev. Edwin Johnson officiating and burial in Kellyville Cemetery. He died Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at his daughter's home. He was born March 2, 1878 in Dover Ark to the late Rev. James Perry Campbell and Elizabeth Hancock Campbell. Survivors include his wife Lua Davis Campbell, four sons, one daughter, one stepson, a sister, a brother, 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were his grandsons and honorary pallbearers listed various local men.

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Meisenheimer, Homer Dennis Meisenheimer, born March 17 1955, died Tuesday at 9 00 PM at the family residence. A graveside service directed by Father B A Pruski was held at Oakwood Cemetery Wednesday, June 1. Survivors include the parents a brother Ralph sisters Andy and Evie Meisenheimer paternal grandparents Mrs Waldo Meisenheimer and C A Meisenheimer great grandfather T B Murray and other relatives.

Jefferson School Band Heads to Hot Springs Trip
About 33 members of the Jefferson School Band left Tuesday for their end of school trip to Hot Springs Arkansas. They return home today. Kansas City Missouri May 27 Special W S Terry of Jefferson today was named to membership in the American Hereford Association the world's largest purebred registry organization with headquarters in Kansas City Missouri. The association lists 126 hereford breeders on its roster for March 1955 and maintains active accounts for more than 80 000 breeders nationwide. An average of more than five new lifetime memberships were issued daily last year and the association recorded 552 554 purebred calves, the year's total second highest on record.

Designation of Highways Here in Jefferson Retained
The old US 69 through Jefferson becomes part of a business route for US 59 linking the new US 59 south of Jefferson with FM 134. FM 2258 leaves US 59 at the new Old US 59 junction, while the St. Kny 154 extension east of Hazleton crosses US 59 to FM 134. The old route becomes an extension of FM 134 to State Highway 9 at Broadway and Polk. The complete old location is signed as a Business Route of US 59. Surface work on the new Jefferson location finished May 27 with traffic rerouted May 28. This marks a turning point in Jefferson highway development.

Brantley Takes Second in Far East Rifle Meet
First Lt. Stanford S. Brantley, son of Mrs. A. M. Brantley of Jefferson, and executive officer in Battery 1 of the 77th Field Artillery Battalion, placed second in the 360 yard rapid fire rifle event at the Army Forces Far East and Eighth Army matches in Sendai, Japan.
