Lone Star Steel Seeks Hidden Costs in Labor Talks
The company says the new contract would have been acceptable to employees and would have required higher prices to cover the cost. After the contract was rejected, the old price list was restored though raises were given to supervisory and clerical staff on July 1. Lone Star will absorb raw material cost increases. The union contract runs to September 7 and had sought July 1 rates equal to other steel firms.
