End of an Era and Youth in a Bygone Age

A reflective piece contrasts ancient prophecies of doom with ongoing generational change. It notes in youth the willfulness of sons and the sensibility of daughters, praising disciplined manliness while condemning vice. It weaves in anecdotes on education, instruction in farming methods, and wartime signals via Dabney the slave. It also reports on meerschaum pipe knowledge and a miscellany of notices, from monetary pay to cultural observations.
